Coffee X change > Starbucks – i absolutely love their coffee! My favorite drink is the mocha xtreme its blended and 20x better than starbucks frappucino. I also love knowing that since cxc is local that it helps TUCSON'S economy. unlike starbucks where their taxes go to seattle.... also the wifi's free so thats good and they have sandwiches and other food ; the chicken salad is delicious.
i heard that parking is also available at chase and also at the tuxedo shop after 7pm so thats awesome beacause the parking lot's always packed.
poor coffee, worse service – it is difficult to park nearby, because it has a tiny parking lot and the street parking is restricted to permit-holders. If you do find a parking place, you can enter to find stale pastries and burned coffee. At night I suspect it is actively dangerous -- lots of rowdy customers milling around and car stereos booming away. Raging Sage, right across Campbell, is far better.
The Worst – Poor service, poor quality, and dirtiness are the starters; beyond that, the Grant/Campbell location is the worst in too many ways to list easily.
The parking lot is far too small for this shop. Years ago it was a small place and had better quality, now the shop is much larger with the same small parking lot and the quality is way down. People prowl the street looking for a place to park with little luck. I've seen cars being towed and noticed no parking signs on one of the residential streets. With the drop in quality I'd say the owners are trying to pinch pennies a little too hard. If the business is busting at the seams why not move to a better location and bring back the quality.
I noticed one customer got treated like a bum at the now closed Speedway location because they thought he wasn't going to buy anything. The last time I went (and it will be THE last time) I bought a nice amount of what turned out to be overpriced day old pastries but could not find a place to sit, after searching for parking for almost 15 minutes, because the place was filled with loud students who didn't seem to be doing much eating or drinking but lost of talking and usage of WIFI.
Pack it up and move to a better locale and up your quality or pack it up and go home.
Horrible service – Dear manager:
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with an incident that happened at your speedway store involving the manager and an employee. I am a native Tucsonan and a long time customer of coffee exchange. Because of the food, coffee, and Internet I am always stopping by your store.
I walked into your store carrying my laptop, book bag, and a plastic thirst buster cup filled with water. The moment I set my belongings down one of the baristas approached me and said in a very confrontational manor, “Either throw my cup away or leave.” She continued to say, “People come in all the time and do not purchase.”
I told her I was setting my belongings down and was heading toward the counter to purchase lunch. She stormed off and told the manager I wouldn’t throw away the cup. When I got to the counter, Joe the store manager proceeded to make an issue out of a non issue regarding my water cup. He was very confrontational and dramatic.
He highlighted my “deviant” behavior in front of staff and other paying customers. Joe proceeded to argue with me about details of your policy and how I was breaking rules. He said if I had an “issue” with him I should email to you. I asked for the name of the young lady who approached me at the table and he refused to provide me with that information.
This was an unfortunate incident and entirely uncalled for. As a paying customer I expect to be treated with respect. Joe was ambivalent, accusatory, confrontational, and exhibited a poor level of customer service. Joe clearly does not appreciate your customers nor value the significance of providing high level service. Joe is an aggressive man and should not be in a managerial role influencing the behaviors and attitudes of his subordinates.
As a business owner, I would be extremely concerned about Joe’s lack of professionalism.
My water cup was not grounds for the inconsiderate manor in witch I was confronted. I was so unsettled by this experience that I lost my appetite and decided to just purchase a coffee at your store.
I have never felt more unwelcome or uncomfortable in your facility in my life. I was looking forward to enjoying my time at your coffee exchange; instead I was completely thrown off by your rude and disrespectful staff.
Unfortunately I will no longer be a customer of coffee exchange. There are plenty of coffee shops I can go to and not be attacked over a silly little issue.
