Owner Yelled at Us – I went to the 410 diner tonight for dinner with my family. We had a coupon that we got in a coupon book that the OWNER PLACED IN THE BOOK HIMSELF!! Someone came by our table and gave us another coupon. We put it away as we already had our own. 2 Ladies sat down next to us, so we gave them the coupon we had been given. The next thing we know, the owner came out of the office and started yelling at us that we were taking money out of his pocket by giving those ladies the coupon. Now, we have been loyal customers there for 25 years, but that is the last time we will go there. The waitress was so nice, and I feel sorry for her that she has to put up with that. Again, we will never go there again. The owner also told us he kicked the lady out that had given up the coupon. Remember...he placed these coupons in the book, and he placed at least 10 in there. It was an awful experience.
Bad Management and Ownership – I had a similar experiece with the lovely management. We were served steaks. Mine was nice but my husband's was small and full of marble fat pieces. We called the waitress over and she made a face as if she knew what was coming. The owner came over to us and yelled at us loudly in the restaurant. Told us he selects the pieces served and told us not to come back. There was no rudeness on our part. We are quite folks. He is/was really abusive to us and his employee's. After we made him mad, he yelled at his employees to get back to work. They all had his face like they had been thru this before. Sad because up to then, we like the place. Bad business. Bad to his people.
Fresh veggies & a smoking section! – A wonderful, extensive variety of fresh veggies and vegetable dishes. The salad is actually GREEN! (not iceberg) The menu is as extensive as the lunch/dinner menus at diners in the northeast. Something for everyone. Their selection of salad dressings is a bit limited; if it's a dietary issue bring your own, they don't seem to mind. If you prefer Splenda you'll need to bring that too. They've also got one of the few smoking sections left in town. Now if they were only open 24/7 they'd give the chains a real run for their money!
Family friendly neighborhood restaurant – It's not fancy food but it's solid fare with plenty of veggie options, something you rarely find at other restaurants nowadays. (And on Tuesdays, they offer two dollars off all entrees, so steer clear if crowds and short wait times don't fit your palate.) The soups are generally hearty and delicious, the salads crisp and generous (their 1000 Island dressing is the best), and the Sonora Casserole could make a regular out of even the most dedicated carnivore. The service is friendly and efficient and the management appreciative of its regulars. Best of all, 410 Cafe caters to families with small children and seniors, too. I've been going there for years and this is why.
Very exquisite Diner Food – I walked into this place expecting to order a Burger yet their exquisite menu of Grilled Red Snapper, Peppered Chicken, Lemon Butter Salmon and so forth all took me by surprise. The Peppered Chicken , which came with delicious corn bread and my choice of two side vegetables, was delectable and probably goes down as some of the best diner food I have ever eaten. The only thing I did not like was the fact that they put cinnamon in the Yams. Other than that though, I have no complaints. Well maybe I do. I didn't have enough room to try some of their delicious looking milkshakes. Whatever the passed rater said about the service being bad obviously did not have our waiter. She was kind, courteous, and always kept the Corn Bread coming. I Will definitely be going back!!
Usually great, but... – We eat at the 410 Diner regularly and enjoy the service, the soups, several main dishes, and especially the price, very much. Unfortunately, the management at 410 Diner is among the rudest in the restaurant business. Upon pointing out that a dish was undercooked, a manager came to our table to inform me that I was mistaken and that the food was in fact overcooked. I informed him I was not looking for the dish to be comped, but he continued to insist I was wrong. THIS IS SIMPLY BAD MANAGEMENT AND BAD FOR BUSINESS!!!
