BAD, BAD, BAD – The atmosphere was nice but service was BAD. we were waited on by three different waiters because they take the orders but do not return. it took 20 minutes to get the menus, an hour to get the food, and still had to send my smelly fish back. Will NOT be going back.
Atmosphere was Awful! – Besides the good food and service, what occurred shocked me. A young teenage boy was very disrespectful to the lovely hostess who attentively greeted us and sat us at our table. Mind you, an infant was present as this arrogant boy was verbally abusive over her having a cup of coffee. He also had the audacity to attempt in physically throwing her out as she stood her ground to handle the situation in an appropriate manner as the busboy held him back in preventing him from touching her. I witnessed this inappropriate and outrageous behavior that it sickened me to the point that no matter how good the food and service is, I refuse to go back. The atmosphere was just awful.
Fabulous meal – My wife and I had dinner over the weekend at Don Pedro's and we agreed that it was one of the best meals we have ever had anywhere. The food was superb, the service was excellent and the Mojitos lived up to their billing. All in all a fabulous experience. Highly recommend.
good food arrogant service – The food was good, I did enjoy digging into my meal. Wonderful flavors and combinations. My wife's meal on the other hand was half a dozen dried out strips of chicken on a mediocre plate of greens...blah!
The service was relatively attentive as it should be in a nice restaurant, though my multiple requests for a second cup of coffee were totally unheeded. service was definitely harried.
The wait staff is welcoming, but needs to understand that the waiter is a waiter and that the customer is who is important. The arrogance of the hired help was a little bothersome. It may just be my preference, but unless I am visiting a truck stop I don't want to have my waiter join me at the table. If I were running a fine restaurant in New York I would want the customers treated like I valued their business.
The owner hovers at the edge of the wait station with an uneasy glare. I don't mind the oversight of the dining room operations, but after a while you get the feeling you are being watched a little too intently. Probably a good reason why the staff is so nervous.
If this were a local diner I would give them a 4, but for a white tablecloth establishment in NYC they need to refine the customer skills.
Amazing Mojitos – I live across the street and dropping in for the Mojitos is an ideal experience. They have a really cool bread basket with spicy popcorn, banana chips and oil for the bread. I've had dinner there once and the service was great.
The waiter was so enthusiastic it made my fiance and I want to order every special he read off. Overall, this is a great place to go for a nice dinner or even just grab some delicious drinks before heading out for the night.
Great Churrasco – I been to Don pedro's many time. Overall their dinner menu is varied and everything has good flavor. However, their churrasco is phenomenal!!! It is cooked to perfection, it's juicy, and super flavorful. I went with my daughter and they accomodated her very nicely- esp. since they don't have a kids menu. They offered her chickn fingers (spanish style) and french fries and it was very good.
Their service though overall really NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. The maitre'd tries to attend everyone, but somwhow they seem to forget that you're there.
pleasant surprise – In an area not known for much too choose from when it comes to dinning out , i heard of a spot that was romantic and had an exotic menu that infused euro culinary skills with carribean ingredients and that alone was enough to peek my interest, so yesterday i took a friend and gave don pedros a try ........wow , i was pleasantly surprised. The servers introduce themselves as "your dining host" and were detailed and attentive , the energy was vibrant and contagious ,the music took my ears and feet on a vacation to the islands, and finally the food was delicious and very well presented, oh yeah not to mention the mojitos were heavenly. The kicker was the minimum damage to my wallet .Well priced delicious festive fine dinning and a get cocktail selection what more could i ask for....... oh yeah maybe some outside seating and a little extra decor. I highly reccommend this restaurant.
What Happened!!! – I don't know what happened to Don Pedro's. Lately I've been eating there and it's not the same. I mean the food is still good but the service just REEKS!! well it was never the best but now it's worse. There was a time were everything was going great excellent service, excellent food everything was good. How can things change in a matter of day's. Here's a TIP to the owner PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR RESTURANT TRAIN YOUR SERVERS BETTER OR HIRE BACK YOUR OLD SERVERS BECAUSE IT'S NOT THE SAME. DO IT FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS I BEG OF YOU!!!!!! I'm a loyal customer but things could change SERVICE IS WHAT COUNTS.
P.S. Ask for the special's because now a days the waiters won't mention it.
One of the best on the Upper East Side – Don Pedro's is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is incredible. Go for the Seafood Paella for two. Even for two very hungry people there is plenty of food left to be taken home (it reheats really well also). All of the apetizers are good and the Sangria is very good. Really nice restaurant to go with a group or on a date. Service is usually pretty good. Highly recommend!
very rude bartender. – The person behind the bar should be better trained in hospitality. Food sucks and drinks are awful (horrible pina coladas). The only possitive thing was the music, great salsa.
