Owned by Jay-Z and packed with Jay-Z wannabes, this club is full of action, drama, and bling, and there's no denying it.

My Favorite Place in the City – Decor= 10

Staff= 10

Atmosphere=10

This is hands down my favorite place in the city. I come here almost every week to enjoy dinner and just the atmosphere of the place. It has to be one of the chicest places I have been to in the city. I frequented the venue before the renovations, but now it's almost like I'm addicted to this place. There are always games on the screen with music interwoven throughout the commercial breaks. The manager are friendly, the hostesses are beautiful, the servers make great dining recommendations and the bartenders know their stuff. I recommend this place if you are looking for a sports bar thats better than norm, where you can sit back and relax and enjoy in luxury.

**a bonus treat: you never know who may come in, one night I was there and Shaq walked in and had dinner mere feet away from me.**

Great Night--Great Place – This venue is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! I had actually purchased a voucher through Gilt City for cocktails and appetizers and decided to use it for a girls night and I am happy that I did. My girls and I decided to go on a Thursday after work to have dinner and drinks and we had a great time. Our server was great, made great suggestions on the menu and was very attentive throughout the night. There was a game playing in the background and music interwoven throughout. It wasn't overbearing to the point where I couldn't have a conversation and I appreciated that. A manager came over and checked on me and my party and wanted to ensure that we were being taken care of and that was something else that I appreciated. We had a great night and ended up staying longer that originally planned.

The 40/40 Club is a great place to just kick back and relax and enjoy the atmosphere. We had a great experience all around and are thinking to make it our "girls night out" spot.

I would completely recommend this place and am sure that I will some of you there!

Worst Place in NYC, AVOID – I typically neverbother to write review but this time around my experience was so appauling, I just HAD TO. I would have given it "negative" stars, if I could, by Citysearch doesn't offer this option. We arrived at 40/40 Club with another couple (a party of 4) on Friday, March 23, at about 6:45 PM. We were seated promptly by a pleasant smiley hostess. The waitress arrived shortly thereafter. We wer planning to redeem one of the Groupon-type vouchers. The waitress seemed puzzled that we had a voucher, although I alerted at the time of the reservation we would be redeeming one. She then reluctantly took it, but she would not point out whether specific things where included or excluded in the voucher when I inquired. We ordered a round of drinks, which she got two of wrong. One person in our party who doesn't drink alcohol ordered a club soda and she brought over a tiny glass filled with ice cubes with maybe 2 ounces of liquid. Refill requests took 40 minutes each to arrive (for the soda). Other beverages were of acceptable quality, nothing special, overpriced if I had paid full price. We proceeded to order appetizers. One of our appetizers never arrived, one more was the wrong one and the server was arguing with us for a while saying that this was what we had ordered (we ordered fish tacos while we got fish fingers for some reason); after a long ordeal they finally replaced it and brought what we had ordered. The rest of the appetizers tasted pretty decent. After the appetizer ordering fiasco and 40-minute waits for soda refills we decided we didn't want a second round of drinks and requested a check. We waited 45 minutes. 45 MINUTES. I am not kidding. AND WE STILL DIDN'T GET IT. Over the course of the wait time, the waitress disappeared, so I had been hunting down the hostess who told me that they are "trying to figure out how to process the voucher". Upon my third inquiry with the hostess, I demanded to see the manager who was not in sight. When the manager didn't show up within 15 minutes, I told the hostess we were leaving and that we had left $20 on the table that should have taken of the 2 extra club sodas and tax on top the things we had ordered that were supposedly covered by the voucher (4 appetizers, 4 drinks). The tip was out of the question at that point, obviously, given the level of service. As we had stepped out in the street, all of a sudden our waitress reappeared out of nowhere (after I repeatedly scoured the place for 45 minutes looking for her in vain), accomplanied by the manager (who was nowhere to be found when I requested to speak to him in the first place). They handed us an $84 dollar check with charges for 2 appetizers, 1 drink, and upcharge for 2 martinis and a service charge. Their claim was that things we had ordered weren't included in the voucher, even though I specifically requested when ordering whether those things would be covered and the waitress said that "everything is covered". I refused to pay the bill based on them trying to defraud me and told them to call the police if they wanted to make me to. They quickly took the bill back and the manager said he would "take care" of it, he doesn't understand how that could have happened, that we were served by his best waitress (???!!!) and that he doesn't want us leaving with a bad experience. Too late. My experience was RUINED. I have been going out in the city for 12 years, never once did I have to deal with such a nightmare and disrespect. Obviously, I am never going there again, advising everyone I know against going back, and spreading the word online for folks to stay away from this place. I am just very disappointed that a Friday night out I was looking forward to all week went so wrong.

Classy Look BUT Get-over Mentality – I took my BF to The 40/40 Club for drinks on her B-day on Feb 10, 2012. It is a Sharp & Classy looking place, too bad the “presentation” of the place doesn’t reflect the quality of the Staff or the integrity of the Management. As mentioned, we went there for drinks and had a small appetizer. One too many drinks later, I was given a bill that I could barely make out (vision was a bit impaired as was my mind :-/). At that moment, my concern was to pay my bill and although the waiter provided VERY minimal service, it was only fair to give him a tip. I added the tip, gave my credit card to the waiter and upon his return signed the receipt. Long story short, turns out The 40/40 Club mandatorily charges a 20% tip to your bill even if all u have are drinks with a side of finger foods. Who in their right mind (never mind numerous Bklyn Nights <Alcohol> later) would expect an automatic 20% tip for basically drinks…I certainly didn’t, and that night I ended up giving the waiter an additional $50 as a tip when 20% of the total was ALREADY included on the bill. Well, it is almost the end of March, 2012 and I’ve been in a continuous cat & mouse chase with the management of The 40/40 Club. All I am requesting is for the additional $50 paid in ERROR to be refunded to my credit card as a sign of “good faith”. I’ve been going back & forth with Ms. Andrea Thomas, who continues to tell me that they will NOT refund the additional tip because I signed the receipt authorizing the transaction. Needless to say, I feel completely taken advantage of by the staff and management of The 40/40 Club. EVERYONE watch your back when entertaining at The 40/40 Club because they WILL RAPE you if you let yourself have a good time. The STAFF at The 40/40 Club CANNOT be trusted and Management doesn’t put the customer first. They will defend their staff instead OF PROTECT their customers. PARTY AT YOUR OWN RISK at The 40/40 Club

Danced the night away!! – The DJ here is amazing! We had the 40/40 tri-platter which gives you three large portions of anything on the menu. It was well priced and we all split the bill. Grape Sex is my favorite drink! Shoutout to the bartenders!

New York's Premier Sports Bar/Lounge – Staff: Great

Decor: Beautiful

Food: Delicious

As a fan of Jay-z I decided to try his latest business venture, the 40/40 Club. And true to Mr. Carter's form, the 40/40 Club didn't disappoint. I went on a Monday night to watch the Knicks and to grab a bite to eat with my man. And I couldn't have had a better experience. The club looks amazing and gives off an intimate yet exclusive vibe that I enjoyed. There was music in the background that wasn't overpowering which allowed me and my boyfriend to have a conversation while watching the game (which I can promise you I enjoyed more than he did). We were treated like VIP's from the moment we walked into the door, greeted by a hostess who seated us in a great "stadium" like section, that gave us a great view of the large screens in the main bar. The food was absolutely delicious and our server was courteous and knowledgeable of the menu and able to make suggestions that she thought we would enjoy.

Even as we enjoyed our meal, we were offered a tour of club and was able to see the beauty of the entire structure on both levels. Kudos to the staff and management for running such a great establishment. We'll be back for Valentine's Day.

Great Night In A Great Club – was at the 40/40 Club last night to help celebrate the NY GIANTS Superbowl Victory and had an AMAZING experience. Between the decor and the service, I was completely blown away, but what else can you expect from a business owned by Jay-z? The host who greeted me the door was gracious and my server was very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu and made some great suggestions. I enjoyed the 40/40 wings as an appetizer and the collossal shrimp as an entree, and both were delicious. After enjoying a delicious dinner, where I was able to watch the New York Knicks beat the Los Angeles Lakers, I stayed to help the NY Giants celebrate their Superbowl victory. I even enjoyed the crowd that celebrated along with the Giants. All in all I had a great experience and can't wait to experience it again.

Would I recommend this bar/lounge/restaurant to other people? Yes I would and I will make sure that I am with them to enjoy it.
