Great staff, glad to be a part of this practice – As a former drug rep, I chose North Hills IM after observing Raleigh medical practices that ranged from one extreme to the other. I specifically chose this practice and these physicians based on my experience with their keeping up to date on new advances, medications, and therapies. Wait times are reasonable. Reading over some of the reviews, it appears that some folks expect a glad handed reception. I didn't choose this practice for always having a warm fuzzy reception, although I am treated respectfully and professionally. To me, this is a medical business, not a social club. For me, I want a medical practice that is factual and to the point, and gets me in and out as quickly as I can. This place is as professionally oriented at the practice of medicine as I know. I drive in from Johnston County for these folks, am a cash pay patient, and am completely satisfied with North Hills IM, the staff, and the providers.
Not too great – I went to this practice for over two years before I saw an actual physician. Then when I did see a doctor for the first time it was the strangest encounter I have ever had. I have never had a physician that would not make eye contact with you. That was over a year ago, so I'm not sure if that doctor is even still there. I did see a female doctor the last time I went, who seemed to be better. Since I always saw PAs, I don't feel I received the best care available. The worst instance was a bad reaction to medication, which I figured out myself after many blood tests that all came back negative. Nobody was ever rude to me, other than the one weird doctor. But, I do feel that they need to rely less on the PAs.
Still trying to get over this horrible experience! – The patient who wrote the previous post must have had the same doctor (hard to even call him doctor) as I did. I was also treated terribly by this man. He was rude and degrading. He mocked me and laughed at me. I was so uncomfortable in his presence that I couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. In retrospect, I sat there and let him get away with this behavior for a little to long. I was so shocked by what was happening I think I froze for a while. A specialist that I am seeing told me this person is know for being cold and uncaring. That turned out to be an understatement. I have no idea why this man went into medicine but it certainly wasn't to help people who are ill.
Run away as fast as you can!!! – I won't mention his name but this doctor needs to retire and he knows who I am talking about! Very unprofessional and please be careful as to which doctor you go to see here!! I only met this one doctor so I cannot speak for the entire facility. He dismissed every concern I brought up to him and then he proceeds to act like a psychologist to me. He made me uneasy and I truly feel bad for anyone else who schedules an appointment with him. I actually told him that he was wasting my time as I had real issues that he dismissed with no concern....Run as fast as you can!!!
Would Not go Anywhere Else – I started going here through the recommendation of another friend and I am extremely happy with the practice. My practitioner is concerned, active, and proactive in helping me manage my health issues. The nurses are incredibly friendly and kind. I have been treated wonderfully here and would recommend these doctors to anyone.
Unprofessional – I was a patient at this practice for over 35 years until recently. The unprofessional manner in which the nurses conduct themselves forced me to seek another doctor. I actually had one of the nurses tell me she would have to think about it before she faxed over an x-ray report because she didn't like the way I spoke to her. Then she didn't fax the report! After I complained to the "head nurse" the office manager called my employer and made personal inquiries about me. Extremely unprofessional! They also charged more than necessary to transfer my records, which may be a HIPAA violation.
Terrible scheduling process for new patients – In order to schedule an appointment as a new patient, you must provide the receptionist with your medical history including all medications, your personal information (birthdate etc) and insurance information. They check out your insurance and discuss your health with the doctors. Then, they will call you in a few days and tell you if they feel like accepting you as a patient. Seems like a bizarre and cumbersome process; definitely does not put the patient's interests first. After calling and hearing about their process I decided to look elsewhere for a doctor.
