Cute and friendly Ethiopian restaurant on Fairfax. Sit at the funky round tables in the window or a regular one along the wall. The specialty here is kittfo - chopped beef with great spices, suggested best served medium rare. The veggie combo is delicious, too.

One of the best times we had in (Little Ethiopa) L.A.! – It?s been a while since we'd dine out in the west L.A. area (Fairfax district that is). It was one of the best nights out and we truly had a great time. It was our first try at Ethiopian and I must say this: Well worth it - and many times over! Located in the short and busy strip of Fairfax?s hip ?Little Ethiopia? and encircled by the numerous alike, we chose Messob. The valet was a breeze and the wait was minimal even though the restaurant was jammed packed and busy. The place was well lit; cozy yet spacious. I had the ?Siga Wot? (Strips of beef, braised in red pepper sauce with assorted spices, served with Injera) and as usual, I also had the pleasure of indulging the massive plate opposite of me that my girlfriend had ordered ? the ?Veggie Combination?: a mixture from other Vegan dishes combined consisting of a variety of lentils, collard greens such as spinach and cabbage, and some Tomato fit-fit (a delectable spongy textured tofu-like delicacy). Everything is served up by the hand; you ply a piece of Injera (millimeter-thick soft and spongy crepe made of wheat flour) from the basket and kind of swirl in and scoop up whatever you can handle. Aside from the warm, friendly and attentive service provided by the staff, this was one of the most delicious types of food we?ve experienced and will definitely be visiting again at least once more.

Best Ethiopian Restaurant in Los Angeles and one of the best in all of the US. Authentic spices imported from Ethiopia used in all the dishes, Authentic Ethiopian beer and wine imported from Ethiopia, excellent service provided by servers wearing authentic Ethiopian outfits on the weekend, great prices, A great atompshere that gives you a taste of their culture and not just a taste of their great food. FREE valet parking on on weekends.....has been in business for over 22 years

I love the 'super messob exclusive' – OK, so the service is slow, but this really is the best Ethiopian place on Fairfax. I recommend the 'super messob exclusive' - you get to try a little bit of everything.

Great Food, Bad Service – This was the first time I have ever had Ethiopian food. And I must say I was impressed. The food was absolutely amazing!!! I had the lamb stew and would highly recommend it for anyone who east meat. If you don't eat meat, the collard greens are equally as tasty.

As for the service, BAD doesn't even begin to describe it. We were moved 3 times in one hour by our waitress before having our order taken. Then, it took another hour and a half to get our food. We weren't the only ones with this problem because two other tables complained to the manager while we were there about the food taking forever. The waitress never came over to our table except to move us, take our order, bring our drinks and dinner, and drop off the check. In fact, the only time she was attentive was AFTER she dropped off the check. She came over every minute or so to see if we were ready to have it picked up. I guess she was anxious to get her money???

Anyway, I wold reccommend this restaurant. Just not on a night that you have other plans or are starving. If you keep those things in mind, you'll have a great time.

Delicious – Ive at one point or another tried all the Ethiopian restaurants on the strip and Messob always comes up as my favorite. I usually get the vegetarian combination, which never fails, but Ive also had the kitfo special and zel-zel tibs, (for meat eaters) and its always just as delicious. But, like most everyone else has said, the service is a snails pace. While the servers are very friendly, expect to wait a minimum of 20 min. for your food, and that's if you're lucky. But once it finally arrives, youll realize it was worth the wait.

Stick to the Vegetarian – While the service was sllloowww, when our vegetarian combo platter finally arrived about 40 minutes the food was excellent, fresh with subtle spices, and the traditional bread (which in my previous Ethipian cuisine experience had looked and tasted like insulation) was delicious. Works great w/ the honey ale on offer, but order 2 up front because the floor is understaffed and it is excruciatingly difficult to get the attention of a server. Inexplicably, when we ordered a second dish of the same it arrived in approximately 90 seconds.

Best Ethiopian Food – Everything here tastes a notch above the rest of the places on the strip in Little Ethiopia. However, they get really swamped sometimes. I like calling them up for takeout for this reason, even though it is sometimes difficult to communicate on the phone. I always get the Fit Fit and Kitfo and (red chicken stew, with the egg). Bring more people so you can share more different flavors in one meal!

Like a trip to Ethiopia... – I went there on a Sat with my friends...and it was great!!! We ordered a combination plate of meats and one vegetarian and they both were delicious! Also the injera bread was fresh and very good! And the plate came with a delicious baklava dessert! The coffee preparation does take a long time so order it at the beginning and ask it as an after dinner. Grade A for this place!!!

Boring food, terrible service – I went to Messob for dinner yesterday, and the experience was very poor. They had one waitress to serve approximately 12 tables. I was prepared for a wait, based on some of the other reviews, but my food took 35 minutes to arrive. I was given a glass of water when I was seated, and my companion got an iced tea. We both finished our beverages long before the food arrived; we were never offered a refill. The food was mixed. The chicken wot was fair-to-good; the lamb stew was great; all other dishes were fair-to-poor. Unlike what some of the other reviewers indicate, a combination plate is not enough for two people. I was excited to try this restaurant, but it fell far short of my hopes. I don't normally spend the time to write bad reviews--this experience was so poor, it inspired me to warn others.

Best Ethiopian Restaurant in Little Ethiopia – You get it all;the best service, the best food, and the best ethiopian experience. It seems like the food here just has a taste that no other ethiopian restaurant could beat. Almost all of my ethiopian friends say that Messob is the one that you want to try if its your first time. Come on the weekend and they have complimentary valet service, be sure to call ahead because it was pretty packed when i got there.
