I’m 55 years young and have been a student for only 3 months. The benefits of Yoga are well documented, and I’m receiving those benefits every time I come to class. At Rising Hearts Studio you will get 1 hour and 20 minutes per class. The extra 20 minutes, Hanif provides in his classes, is so he can include meditation, class discussion and short lectures with his program. You’re going learn how to free your mind from stress and worry, along with getting an hour from the physical benefits attending his class. Mr. Hanif is truly a warm hearted person that sincerely wants you to gain all the benefits that his studio has to offer. Hanif, I can’t thank you enough, Namaste.
"Real Deal" Yoga Studio – I have been going to Rising Hearts Yoga Studio for nearly two years now, and I don't ever plan on stopping! I have been to several yoga studios before, not to mention the yoga classes at my local gym (where the yoga classes are included in the all-in-one price) and they all pale in comparison to Rising Hearts Yoga Studio. The owner and instructor, Hanif, actually TEACHES you yoga in a way that so that you will be able to continue and enjoy your practice at home as well. Even if you have taken yoga classes before elsewhere, you begin in the Beginner I classes with Hanif, who teaches you the correct and safe way to perform the poses incorporating them with the breath as well as the beauty and benefits of a meditation practice. In a world of cookie-cutter and "trendy" yoga classes/studios where the main goal seems to be obtaining "yoga butt" this is such a refreshing & welcome change! It is TRUE yoga as it is intended to be - where the postures, or asanas, are blissful moving meditations. I have lost and maintained (within a 5 pound range) 20 pounds since beginning my practice at Rising Hearts Yoga Studio, as well as becomming stronger, more flexible, more optimistic and more loving in the process. It has taught me to finally make that important mind/body connection. Hanif isn't insisting that you do the asanas HIS way, but rather the correct way with correct form so that you don't injure yourself, but instead reap the benefits. I feel so blessed to have found Hanif and his wonderful studio! All of the instuctors are magnificent, caring people with a pure passion for yoga. True Yoga - Pure Peace & Balance – Yoga at RHYS has been a journey of self-discovery encompassing overall well-being, wholeness and balance. If you have a genuine and true desire to really learn yoga as it was intended (NOT an aerobics class, power yoga, Pilates or the latest "trendy" yoga class), one must attend classes consistently at least three times per week or more (to achieve the best, lifetime education). You will immediately, and especially over time, realize the profound effects through a consistent yoga routine. For me personally, learning yoga (through the physical and mental aspects combined) has enabled me to achieve a 50-pound weight loss, a more cheery attitude, increased number of happier days, overall feeling of well-being, greatly improved posture, muscle tone, flexibility and increased energy levels; as a natural result, overall improved health. The teaching approach at RHYS is very strategic and methodical, thus the learning process is slower compared to traditional forms of exercise and compared to what most individuals are accustomed to. Patience, listening and consistency are the keys to your personal success at RHYS. As a result of attending over time, the long-term effects are amazing and sometimes unexplainable, all the more reason for one to experience their own journey for themselves. RHYS provides students the proper techniques on breathing, proper alignment, meditation and more. Yoga at RHYS has taught me to be a better listener resulting in better practices outside of class in my personal and professional life. The instruction is EXCELLENT. If you are a willing student and a careful listener, you will achieve a certain level of mindfulness you have never experienced before. Like with any education, once you learn it, no one can ever take it away from you.
Yoga - you'd be surprised! – A year ago I was into pilates and running. But when stress still seemed a routine part of daily life my sister encouraged me to try yoga. Skeptically I did. And I've never looked back. I found Rising Hearts a great place to start yoga because you begin with the basics and work your way into the more difficult moves. I never felt like I was going to get injured but I also never felt bored. The workout is great for toning, has improved my flexibility tremendously and the meditational aspects are great for stress. After a year the classes are still challenging and I actually look forward to being there. No more dragging myself on the treadmill!
Great place to make Yoga a daily part of your Life – I recently started taking yoga classes to help reduce stress. I found it very hard to find classes outside of the loop and was pleased to come across this one. If you're new to yoga and really want to learn this is the place for you. You learn the proper way to breath, take a stance and meditate.
Editorial Review – The yoga instructors at Rising Hearts Yoga, in Spring, help their students balance their mind and body through the practice of traditional classical Indian Hatha and Raja Yoga.
Marvelous studio and instructors – This is a wonderful, relaxing place to do yoga. The owner teaches most of the classes, and he and the other teachers are very experienced. A series of six 6-week classes is taught. During the first class, you may attend every beginner 1 class offered. When you advance to beginner 2, you may take all the beginner 2 AND beginner 1 classes. And so on - until you are a graduate, and your tuition goes down and you may take EVERY class offered for the same fee.
I do not find the owner to be commercial, as another reviewer has suggested. Far from it! During the first 2 classes, he recommends that his students buy books that go along with the classes. During the mixed classes he doesn't mention merchandise at all. He mentions workshops when they are offered, and I have greatly enjoyed all I have attended.
Great NW Studio with careful attention to form – This studio is a gem in the NW part of town. The instructors are familar with teaching yoga for students that are older and a tad out of shape. The owner teaches most classes and he does this slowly and spends a great deal of time ensuring that everyone is in the correct position and that knees and backs are not compromised. The meditation is also wonderful. The other review indicates that he spends a great deal of time marketing seminars and other items which he/she found offensive. I enjoy the seminars occassionally as a way to extend my practice and don't feel that he is over selling or over marketing anything. The fees are so very reasonable compared to other places like Dahn and the instructors are excellent. There are a lot of classess, morning and night and several weekend classes for those of us that work.
In taking yoga for the first time, we were pleased with the attitude of the instructor of Rising Hearts prior to taking the class. However, during our first couple classes, it became apparent that his welcoming attitude was a show and ploy to get people to join. Our biggest concern during classes was that he was very condescending to his students. He treated us like idiots when certain moves could not be completed exactly the way he wanted them done. Secondly, we were put off by his frequent marketing of books, pillows, mats, and paid seminars. The instructor should welcome everyone to his class and be more nuturing throughout. We will be looking for another yoga center.
