HORRIBLE – I could go into detail about the 2 times that I have joined this gym and the problems I have had with them and ABC financial, but I am trying to move on from the whole ordeal. I know, 2 times, same experience, how stupid! I thought new owners=better experience. Other than the location there is NOTHING positive I can say about this facility, just a warning to BEWARE.
Best Gym in Capitol Hill – What a relief switching to this gym has been for me. I get to use cardio machines and 25lb free weights at 6pm at night. That's unheard of at my last gym, 24hour fitness. I came in when a friend was joining. I ended up working out for that day and realized what a good gym was suppose to be like. Clean!
All the cardio is brand new and has individual TV screens on them. My Ipod connected to it and I was able to scroll through my music right from the monitors. It was amazing. And the best part was that I didn't need to wait for anything.
There was little to no crowd in the free weight area. And the people that were there were definitely there to work out. It wasn't intimidating and it wasn't a scene. Just people trying to get there work out done and go home. No one sitting on machines chatting, no one grunting in the mirrors, no one strutting around trying to be seen. Who would of known that people actually just come to get a work out in.
And the place is clean. You can tell the actually like their gym. Members clean off equipment. Staff was walking around wiping stuff down. The trash isn't overflowing. I feel like I was constantly in danger of getting staff infection at my last gym. Here, I feel like I could eat in the cardio area and not vomit. It's great.
I highly recommend checking this gym out ASAP. Cancel your gym membership and come check this place out today!
This gym is HORRIBLE!!!! They effectively stole $500 from me. I was a member there and signed up for 10 personal training sessions. My trainer was shipped off to Iraq so I called in multiple times to get another trainer. No response. Three months later I go in demanding that they give me a new trainer and they tell me: "Sorry, but the six month period you had to use those sessions has expired. But we'll give you a 20% discount if you want to buy 10 more!" I felt like a kid getting picked on by meat-head bullies in the playground. When they continued to refuse to either refund my money or give me my training sessions with another trainer I canceled my membership. Then they continued to charge me for two months AFTER I canceled my membership. I finally had to have my bank stop all payments. STAY AWAY!
What A great Place – The gym has been ran down for decades, starting with a crappy layout... The new owners have done great job fixing the equipment and place up.. I really love the new owner,as a long time meber we thank you.
If price or location are number 1, maybe. Otherwise, look elsewhere. – The other reviews have pretty much covered it. Things may be slightly better with the new management, but not significantly. If any equipment breaks down, it will be broken for at least 3 weeks. Maybe it's a simple cable that you would think they would have extra stock of - doesn't matter. At least 3 weeks down. Treadmills, they have lots of machines, but not enough to meet demand during peak periods. Consider that 30-40% may be broken down at the same time - forget about it! The locker room is poorly designed - it's a hallway. That hallway is open to the area with the toilets, so it can be most unpleasant to change in there.
www.golds-gym-sucks. I found this website after I signed the contract. – Golds gym lies! There are always broken machines. The bathrooms and showers are not cleaned on a regular basis. Often times there is hair and slime plugging up the shower drains. There is always standing water on the floors just outside the shower. There is always one or two burned out light bulbs in the b-room stalls. The final straw was a couple of months ago when no one showed up to open the gym. They said they fired the guy but I've heard from other members that it's happened several times before. Anyway, I decided I wanted out!
I asked to cancel. They told me they don't handle membership cancellation I would have to call ABC Financial. BY THE WAY, when you sign up you are not paying Golds Gym, you are paying ABC Financial. By signing the contract I,unknowingly, borrowed money from this agency and now I have to pay them back. It has nothing to do with the gym and whether or not I am a satisfied customer. I OWE THEM MONEY! A LOT OF MONEY! ABC said I couldn't break the contract unless I ...#1 died #2 was permanently disabled or #3 moved 25 miles from any golds gym location and paid the $125 cancellation fee. WHAT?! I signed up for a month to month membership! Yes, I signed the contract, but only after the golds gym employee went through the contract with me. The first question I asked was "Is this a month to month contract? He told me it was. I said good because I wasn't interested in a year contract. He said "no worries" I can quit at anytime. I believed him so I signed it! I've been a member of several gyms, I felt I was pretty well versed in what a gym membership contract entails...liability stuff etc. I've never had a problem before.
I called GG and asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me I must have misunderstood. Yes, it's called a monthly contract... because I agreed to pay monthly for one year. IT WAS NOT A MISUNDERSTANDING! He knew exactly what I was asking and lied to me! What can I do? I'm screwed.. I signed the contract.

Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.
Don't Do It – I walked into the Broadway Gold's while searching for a new gym 'cause LA Fitness is a bad place. I was suprised to find one of my former trainers working there. He gave a tour of the facility trying to highlight the positives and keep my mind off of the overwhelming negatives. I decided just to try the gym out for 10 days instead of joining. Best move I coulda made! This place is a mess. Locker room are dark and dingy-like you're in a cave with a match for lighting. The equipment is dated and a ton of out of order signs all over the place. I talked with a few members there and they say that equipment is slow to be repaired if at all. Like the tanning bed that has been down for 2 MONTHS! C'mon how long does it take to get new bulbs really?!?! The salesman talk about how these new owners have great things in store, but according the members that have been there for awhile, NEW OWNERS are a regular thing with Gold's; 3 or 4 in the past few years. Makes me wonder. I chatted with my former trainer regarding the facility and as always he had a very positive outlook but I could tell he wanted to say something else-how he really felt. On top of all that there memberships are overpriced. Looking at their structure they are trying to charge the rate of a SPORTS club when it is just a fitness facility; NO COURTS, POOL, SAUNA or JACCUZZI. $39/month for weights and cardio? They do have a SPORT facility but it's out in BFE...Woodinville, not gonna drive that far! Plus their start-up fees start at $249 on the low end and are as high as $659. Again way overpriced. No wonder no one is working out there. On my second visit there I was waiting at the front desk to get my pass back when 5 different members came into cancel with all of the same issues; poorly maintained facility and billing issues. How do you stay in business when more people cancel then sign up? this place is not worth your money or time! Hopefully my friend wises up and finds a better company to work for.
Worst customer service I've seen in a long time! – I have been a member at this gym for a year, and it hasn't been bad, but it also hasn't been great. The machines are constantly breaking down and remain that way for weeks at a time. Much of the equipment could stand to be replaced as it is looking worn out. The facility is clean enough, mostly, but the real problem is the staff. At Gold's Gym, they care about you only so long as it takes to get your credit card number and start charging you for membership. The staff is not friendly or especially helpful. They don't say hello or goodbye as you pass the front desk, in fact, they generally don't look up from what they're doing. When I called to cancel my membership, I was told that I could do so any time in the month before my contract expired and I wouldn't be charged. When I went in to fill out the paperwork, I recieved a nasty surprise... I had been given the wrong information by their staff, and now, since I hadn't come in 30 days BEFORE my contract ended, I would be charged another month's membership. The manager that I spoke with later on the phone was rude and condescending, unapologetic, and tried to make it seem as though it was my fault that I didn't have a photographic memory of the contract I signed with them. When I pointed out to him that I, as anyone else could have, didn't remember the details and had called for clarification only to be mislead, he was unconcerned. DO NOT give these people your credit card information. DO NOT patronize this gym. Sure, the location is great and makes going in a breeze, but do yourself a favor and go to another gym in Seattle that actually cares about its customers and treats them as more than a paycheck.
Don't join this place – Uggg!! To join the chorus of naysayers, this gym is VERY poorly maintained. Machines remain broken for months, signs referring to the fact that they will be fixed months ago are still up (the machines are still broken), and the bathroom is moderately skanky. I?ve tried to politely speak with the management, and they totally blew me off. Its close to my house (and really my only option) but it is totally sub-par.
