:). This was by far the coolest record store i've ever been to. The owner has such a passion for music and can find exactly what you need even if you dont have the album name. Its easy to find the record your looking for and there is probably atleast 5 copies to choose from. I dig it there! and they have shows on the weekend.
Amazing amount of vinyl.
As far as a repository of vinyl, no other store in Seattle comes even close to touching Bop Street. It's truly an impressive store, housing two floors of simply an amazing amount of vinyl. If you buy vinyl, this place will get you truly excited, especially if you have never visited the store before.
But unfortunatley, Bop Street Records, upon closer inspection, is extremely disappointing as well as annoying. First, and most importantly, the prices are extrodinarily high. So high, in fact, that after only a few minutes in the store, one might actually find oneself chuckling at some of the prices. If you shop for vinyl often, as I do, one can easily find records seen in recent weeks selling for say, 38 bucks, that often sell for $4 in other stores around town. Second, much of the vinyl has not been priced. Therefore, one has to request one of the employees to provide a price. This barter-style atmosphere is really uncomfortable and annoying, and obviously favors the store. Trust me, once you've asked how much some of the music is, you may just wish you had never asked once quoted some astronomically high prices.
Truth is, I'd really frequent this store quite often if the prices ever fell to earth anytime soon, which is highly unlikly. As it is now, I can say I've been to this store twice ever since living here 11 plus years and I don't see myself stepping foot inside Bop Street anytime soon. Save the bartering for flee markets, not record stores.
