Not authentic mexican.
My boyfriend & I read some great reviews about Burrito Express and decided to give it a try. This is definitely a take out restaurant, so don't go there in hopes of finding a comfortable place to sit, because there are only a few stools. The menu had little detail to the items, so I kept having to ask questions. We both ordered the burrito grande with shredded chicken & 'mild' verde salsa. Cheese, sour cream, & guacamole are not included on any of the burritos so we had to order cheese for an extra $1.00. If you want everything on your burrito, it will end up costing nearly $10.00. My burrito was mostly filled with wilted shredded lettuce & red salsa (doesn't 'verde' mean 'green' in Spanish?). I finally stopped eating the burrito & opened it up to see if they had even put any chicken and cheese in it. There were a few bits of shredded chicken inside & a little cheese. I gave up on it & threw most of it away. My boyfriends burrito was less of the disappointment because there was more chicken in it. But, overall we were pretty unsatisfied with the contents & most of all, the taste which was rather bland.
We also ordered their "Mucho Nachos." I was utterly surprised when I opened up the box & there was taco bell type nacho cheese & jalapenos all over the chips. There was a small dollop of sour cream & guacamole. Pico de gallo & runny black beans saturated the chips underneath & made them very soggy. We had to eat them with a fork & lots of napkins. The flavor was okay, but it was another disappointment. I have never been to an authentic mexican restaurant that uses nacho sauce for their deluxe nachos!
The drinks were probably the best thing about the place. The homemade horchata & Jamaica drinks tasted great.
If you decide to go there, be sure to ask questions before ordering do you know what you are getting!

Editorial Review.
More of a stand than a restaurant, this Lake City spot offers a variety of homemade sauces and big burritos.
