Reviews for Deguzman Oriental Food Mart

I'll be fearless with this review as I happen to know the owners and they know me, not really personally but I've been their customer for a very long time, though not on regularl basis since I live so far away.

The attitude of the serving people in Ornage Blossom Trail can use some improvement, however, understand that they help with the food preparation, which BTW, food sold are really tasty; serving, and manning the register as well. That being said, however, does not excuse their unsmiling attitude, which I have experienced myself when going there the first few times. Since I've been in retail management where I always emphasized excellent customer service, it irritated me as well, however, I took the time to ask the young man at the register when I was checking out, why they look surly and looked as if the sale was an imposition, and the answer was because they are very tired.

Understand that preparing Filipino food is a lengthy, tiring, process but since the end product is so good, we do it, but if we can buy it without going to the bank for a loan, we buy it instead, and so the Filipino carinderia business blooms, and deGuzman's foods are good for the money.

I've spoken to Joe, who's the owner, who works hardest of all, the way it looks, but still manages a smile a short friendly conversation, but being the owner, possibly works everybody hard to keep his family business going and growing, they have like 3 stores now, one of which I patronize more than the other because they serve real great food with a smile and welcoming warmth, aside from being closer to us here in Palm Ciast. This is capably run by Joe de Guzman's son, Lito, and affable daughter-in-law, Gigi. They are the ones that caters my parties when I have them, or when some of my friends does.

To recap, yes, the main store can use attitude adjustment, if the people are very tired working in the kitchen, they should get somebody else to serve and handle check out as a business is not only dependent on product quality, but more so on customer service. If the Sanford branch can handle their business with a smile, they can, too, since Lito, cooks, handle the register, and also deliver, might I add, always graciously. His wife and their son also helps a lot in the business, and still manages to be customer friendly, so why not the main branch, even if they are doing more business? They should hire somebody to handle customers as they should be, there's really no excuse for any customer to feel like an inconvenience or a bother, no matter how good the product.

At any rate, they smile and converse with me now after I asked that question, so perhaps it will also help if the customer takes the time to establish rapport, it might break the ice.

My rating should actually be 5 stars for the food and 3 stars for the service at OBT, but the 5* all around for Sanford made it a 4* Thank you for the excellent food and customer service, Lito, Gigi, and Family, we at Palm Coast appreciates you, and Joe, of course, for he's the Boss, after

Best Filipino food in Town – Being new to the area, I was looking for an oriental store to buy rice. I found this place from google maps and I have to say, going to this store was a very good decision. Not only they have rice but they also have freshly cooked Filipino food ready for take out. I've been there multiple times and I noticed they have at least 4-5 dishes prepared. I always buy a large serving of the pancit when they are cooking it, it tastes so good. I also love their BBQ on a stick, that is something that I would highly recommend amongst the other dishes that they prepare.

As for the customer service, I have met the ower, the wife and two sons and they are very nice people. It's unfortunate that someone had a bad experience going to this store but I have never meet nicer people than the people running this place. This is also the reason why I am writing this review because these people deserve to be defended. My experience has always been great and I want people to know that this store is not what is portrayed to be.

Keep up the good work, Deguzman, keep serving the good food. God Bless!

Poor Customer Service – The people in this place does not have a clue how to treat customers. Everyone in the store was rude and have attitude problems. You would at least expect a smile or a greeting when you enter the store, but instead, you get a frown from their weird looking faces.

I would never recommend this place to anyone.
