I love Kid's Kottage, the owner, and all the staff I have meet! The prices are FAIR....listen if you go to any boutique that's what they will be....if you don't like it search ebay and quit complaining!! As for the consignment section, everything I've ever seen looks brand new and it is always half of what it would be new or cheaper. How is that not a deal??? I have a two year old so I have spent a lot of time shopping for him as well as selling his clothes there. How great is it to be a working mom to bag up his stuff then have a check?
Also to address the owner being rude...you people need to calm down! She is running a business and has for a long time. Her business is not to walk on egg shells and kiss everyones booty! If she doesn't sell St. Paul's uniforms oh well!! I'm sure if moms would bring in St. Paul's uniforms she would happily sell them. What do you want her to go and buy new St. Paul uniforms so you can have them sold at half price? That's not the way CONSIGNMENT works!! We need to support small businesses and small business owners not criticize everything!! If someone was rude to me and I was the customer I would confront them not run home to hide behind my computer to write a negative review! People that have never been there might actually look at these and believe these lies!!
So again compared to Tiny Town and the kids store in the mall Kids Kottage has the best prices and I think very personable, helpful, and fun staff!!
Love this shop ... have bought granddaughters several new items. The owner and all of her employees have been extremely helpful! My daughter-in-law has sold tons of items from her brood of 5!
I LOVE this store! – I have shopped at Kids Kottage on numerous occasions. Many times it is to just browse but I have also made several purchases. I have never been treated rudely. I have always had excellent customer service and It has always been from the owner. :) The prices are, in my opioion, fairly decent compared to some stores that carry the same items. Especailly since I know round about what they pay for these items at market. The consignment is a little tight but they have such a wide variety that I dont really see how they could make it better unless they expanded. As I have said before, this store is wonderful. I will be shopping here for many years to come.

Owner Reply to Unhappy Customers – In reply to the "RUDE" comment writer as to others on this post, I am the owner of Kids Kottage. Your feelings about the store are well taken!! :) However, in defense I would like to say: I do not have a daughter that works with me as my children are very young. I do not have a problem with kids, hence when we renovated, we took store space offering a play area with books, & TV/video games. We try to make our store kid-friendly by product placement of breakables/valuables locked or displayed high. We also have a front door alarm should your child get away from you, the alarm will sound if they try to leave. Most importantly, I DO care about kids! I am blessed to start my week on Sunday as a 4yr. old Sunday School teacher, take on several childrens' charities, partner in Education with several elementary schools and adopt families for which we make many donations. Wtih the above mentioned, we obviously have failed in other areas. I cannot begin to tell you how upsetting these comments are to me. I am SO VERY SORRY that some of you have left here without letting me know of your disappointment of which I take full responsibility. However, I simply cannot address what I don't know! Anyone who knows me, knows I would do what it takes to make things right with any customer! What I do know is that unlike my God, I nor my employees are perfect! We have good/bad days just as everyone! However, we do consider our store VERY casual, joke a lot (perhaps too much and some of that has been mistaken) and consider our customers family as we watch their kids grow up throughout the 12 years of this business! While I appreciate the online and in store customer support of these reviews, I am still concerned as there are references to which I am bewildered! I only wish that ANYONE who has an issue with our store, just take the time to talk to me while you are here or contact me soon afterwards! If I do not meet your expectations or resolve the issue, then fair enough, writing a negative comment would be deservant. I suppose I take it very personal when most of these comments are posted by writers who only have 1 comment on their profile - ME! And yet still, there are references made about me when I have been away from the store! So, if you come here and are unhappy, please let me know of your concerns - it is always the last request I put in EVERY email I send! The store is very cute and has some great consignment items. A little pricey for used items. However, the staff is RUDE, in particular the owner and her daughter. It wasn't so much that they were rude to me, but were obviously rude to a staff member and I take issue with any company that treats their staff poorly. If I had been talked to the way this grown woman was spoken to, I would have walked out right there. They also act like it is a chore to help you and expect you to know how they run things. I was taking a dress that my mom purchased for my daughter at their store in to be monogrammed and they seemed annoyed that I didn't know the procedure. I am hesitant to ever go back. They also seemed bothered by my kids, who were just being kids in a store. Not too loud or crazy, just excited and looking at things they liked. The daughter actually told my daughter to stop touching the bracelets that are clearly for children and were at my daughter's level. If you don't want to deal with kids... don't own a children's store!
Great Store - Great People! – I am absolutely amazed at the reviews on this store. It seems like stores are closing every day and these little comments are basically senseless! These reviews are mainly comments for single incidents - not overall quality of products which I thought was the purpose for review sites. Personal service is an isolated situation! We weren't there for the whole situation to know perhaps how the customer acted. In all fairness, we have all said or done things we may have regretted later.
This store offers a tremendous service with great products! Here you have a hard working small business trying to stay afloat amidst these sort of comments. I am stunned at the criticism as I know how hard these people work. I personally have known this store owner to work sometimes 70-80 hours a week - a commitment that very few of us have to our jobs!
The personal service comments puzzle me the most! I don't call Belk and ask them to look for some khakis in size 10 and get mad if they don't call me back! Personal service over the phone is not what the average customer demands! But it is great IF the store has the time to do that for you. Secondly, I have shopped Kids Kottage for years and been there in gym clothes. The owner is quite casual herself usually dressed in flip flops. It is hard for me to believe that anyone would feel judged in a store where the owner herself is so casual.
Let's be real - we ALL have had not so perfect experiences on occasions from restaurants to Walmart. BUT do we go online and try to destroy their reputation-especially small businesses- and I never judge a business over one situation, everyone has bad days! (Or at least some of us aren't perfect!) These reviews seem more personal as these people don't have reviews on anyone BUT this store. Weird isn't it? I would also bet that none of these "customers" have personally confronted face to face or talked to the store owner about their experience instead of blasting her online. Something I am sure I would want to know if I were her so I could be aware and address it.
This comment log is just truly amazing! Let's all try to take down a small business in today's demanding economy - a store that helps people eg. childrearing grandparents, pregnant teens, budget minded parents and a place to buy safe products (they check everything for recalls) and basically a recycle business keeping lots of stuff out of the landfill. I believe the consignment part of this business is a blessing overall and helps people with a great service! I don't know if I could do a better job - I surely don't work 70-80 hrs so I don't judge anyone who works that hard! And I do hope that if the store owner reads this, PLEASE know that you are doing a GREAT job and let's just pray for these people who obviously can't face you but would try to do harm behind a computer screen! Shame on you for being to judgemental!
To the store owner: You have thousands of customers who appreciate you, your efforts and your staff and mostly what your business offers! Not to mention you have a superb boutique of which I always find reasonable, beautiful clothes and gift items! Bless you and your business!
You may find a bargain, but – So, not once, or twice but three separate occasions I visited this store and found the customer service to be horrible.
Wow! they really don't want to be there. Very strange.
A Little Pricey – The consignment part of the store is a little crowded and the toys are not that much cheaper than buying them brand new. The part of the store that has new cloths in them are very high. The store is hard to walk around in if you have a stroller. The customer service was ok but the owner is rude. She acts like she is annoyed to help you and can be oveheard talking about customer in the store.
