What are they thinking!?!?! – Ever hear the saying, "The difference between pigs and hogs is greed"? Well, Bread and Company has turned into hogs. I work in the building and have been eating lunch , on average three times a week, for well over a year. When I first began going I found the prices very high. Then, I discovered the combos and enjoyed that for a while. I have become a huge fan of the build-your-own salad.... until the last 30-45 days. In that time, Bread and Company has:

* increased pricing

* stopped offering to toss the salad

* decreased quantity of toppings, for example, they now only use 1/4 an avocado instead of 1/2

* implemented using a form to order.... even more impersonal service

* no more choice of romaine lettuce... now you have to have "mixed" to get romaine

Besides my complaints about the salad going south, they no longer offer the quesadilla and burritos. In addition, most of the staff are nice, some are very nice, but there is one that works the front register.... I forgot her name, but she has a star tattooed on her hand... she's got to be the most rude! Why on earth is she working with the customers and not kept behind the scenes?

I emailed the company with my complaints and received no response... If more than these reviews, that speaks volumes.

Got Bread & Co? – People get with the program!! If you like foo foo food! This is the place to be!! Bread & Company has the BEST OF THE BEST!!! No one can beat the tasteful deserts, cakes and sandwiches! Just go somewhere else if you don't want to wait. I have never had a problem with their service. A good tip with these kinds of places go couple of times and ask about combo specials before you judge the prices. Also get there about 11:30 AM.

IM TALKING ABOUT THE ONE IN COOL SPRINGS!! WHERE THEIR PEOPLE KNOW THEIR BREAD!!!

Bad Service Way too expensive – I just back into town. I used to eat at Bread and Company. I remember it as a good place. I went to get a sandwich. I had no idea we had to fill out a form to get a sandwich. We stood there for 10 minutes with other people coming and going before a lady said did you fill out a sandwich order. She did not even work there. Then we went to get a salad. We stood and stood, the lady next to us got waited on an I pitched a fit. I finally got my salad. Then the prices were ridiculous. This is not the friendly place I used to know. We will not be back. The people working for you are clue less, the manager did not even care that we were upset. Your attitude sure has changed.

WAY too expensive – These people obviously haven't heard of the phrase "service with a smile". Everyone there is bitter and not willing to help. And the prices for such mediocre food is disgustingly outrageous.

Bad customer service and confusing ordering process = Lost Business – After swearing off the Bread & Company in Belle Meade due to a year and a half worth of bad dining experiences, I decided on a whim to try the one on West End. Wow. This was worse than the restaurant in Belle Meade. Silly me, I assumed I should order my sandwich at the cash register up front. Then I was told...no, order your meal "up front" after which the cashier pointed to the rear of the store. Okay, I saw another set of registers and went to them. Two employees were talking and leaning against the registers. I noticed a sign that said the registers were closed and to go up front. I looked pretty lost and yet neither of them offered to help. I walked again to another counter and asked where and how to place my order. He said I would need to fill out a sheet. So, I walked over and filled out a sheet. Then there was no explanation of what to do next. I looked around for signs saying to order here or give us your sheet. Nothing. I walked again to the counter to ask what I should do with my sheet. A girl said I should hand it to another guy at yet another counter. Eventually I had to go back to the original register and pay for my food. What a confusing, miserable experience. I left there feeling very frustrated and annoyed. The food wasn't even that great and it's way over priced. I am now officially THROUGH with this pitiful excuse for a restaurant.

Bread and Company on West End - Unflexable for a Faithful Customer – I have used Bread and Company many times in the past and have given them thousands of dollars in business since I worked for an Assistant Vice Chancellor and he had large meetings on a weekly, sometimes daily basis.

Then I ordered 4 box lunches, and needed to change the sandwiches and they would not do it without charging me for the sandwiches. I would have had to pay for 8 sandwiches instead of 4. I had to get upset, tell them I had been a faithful customer, and they had to call the General Manager.

For the price you pay for this food you should get much better customer service than what I received. I will never give them my business again.

Christmas Shopping Made Easy – Who says I can?t shop! At my Grandmother?s Christmas get together I?m always blamed for lame gifts, which I always retort with ?It?s better than no gift, right?? This year I followed suit when I saw a women picking up 10 or more tins of Bread & Company?s homemade toffee. I thought that?s a great idea, who doesn?t like toffee, plus it comes in a nice silver container with Bread & Companies baby blue logo on the front, basically saying it looks nice and I didn?t even have to wrap!! So I scooped up one for every person on my list. I also gave one to the lady who does my dry cleaning ? rewarding those who make me look good ? and when I went in last night to pick up some suits she repeatedly thanked me for the delicious gift and said her husband and son couldn?t get enough of them. I think I?ve found myself a new tradition.

Salad Freak – I?ve never been a huge Panera Bread fan, but it seems recently their food quality has dipped and their new pizza, which has absolutely no sauce and tastes like cardboard, stinks. Still, when eating out, I seek out those places that make an effort to offer fresh food. An extensive menu and of course great taste are important, but after watching movies like ?Super Size Me? and having lived with a roommate who is 200 pounds overweight, I?ve become increasingly conscious of what goes into my food and how it?s made. I can honestly say that I can never see myself eating another McDonald?s chicken nugget in my life?can you say disgusting. I?d heard some good things about a locally owned deli shop called Bread and Company, which supposedly used fresh ingredients and keen on quality over mass-quantity. Funny thing was, after I went, I went back the next day and the next day, then the next day. By the end of the week I was on a first name basis with the register guy. Being a salad freak (one of the reasons I used to love Panera and their Bistro Steak Salad) I was blown away with the different selections of what they call, ?Fresh Salads.? Admittedly I?m a Cobb Salad freak and have in the past been very particular about how their served and different deviations from the original recipe (didn?t I mention I?m a salad freak), but I was totally impressed with Bread and Co.?s Cobb and absolutely loved the Vinaigrette dressing they use. I also tried a salad called Strawberry Fields of all things and it had a scoop of a Honey Chicken Salad on top that when smoothed over the rest of the salad ? that was sprinkled with fresh cut strawberries (in the middle of December no less) ? created a blissful taste so good in fact that I ordered it the following day. Needless to say their food looked and tasted fresh. So I?ve switched, which makes working on West End all the more pleasurable and deletes the temptations of the nearby Wendy?s and McDeath.

Great Lunch Spot on West End!! – Bread & Company offers some of the freshest salads anywhere and the soups are superb! It's the main reason I go out for lunch, and the first place I recommend when meeting a friend at lunchtime!! The berry/fruit tart is reason enough to simply visit!!

Little food for a large price. – I too have taken the time to eat at Bread and Company and to say the least, I was not impressed at all. It was just another Nashville overpriced ordinary sandwich shop that the Belle Meade socialites eat because they know of nothing better. I have eaten better food at a church picnic and it was not anything close to as costly.

I got my food and wondered if I had forgotten to order enough to satisfy my lunch appetite. I ordered a glass of coke and they gave me a cup of coffee. Apparently, they do not hear very well either. There was very little food for a such a large bill.

I feel sorry for Nashville folks who never get out of town to eat or see what wonderful food and good friendly service is availabe at half the cost in a smaller community. Bread and Company has a lot to learn about food service and kindness to customers. I will never go there again, even with my Belle Meade socialite friends and family.
