Tips for Affordable Movers Incorporated
Excellent Service!!. This was not my first (6th within 15 years) move with this company. They were recommended to me years ago and I have continued to use them throughout all of my moves. I continue to refer them to my family and friends. They are always very accommodating, friendly and careful with my furniture.
Waste of money. I hired (Martin's) Affordable Movers to move me from a one Br apt 3 miles down the road. They brought a small BUDGET rental truck and spread out the move so that they charged me more. Michael Martin, owner stated it was my fault for not calling him. Then...I was trying to send him the check and it got sent back to me because the address on the bill was not current (the po box showing here). I called him and he said "no problem" which now i realize is because he had charged the card on the day of the move when I was at limit on my card. Today I had mailed off the payment to the correct address. He had no intention of telling me that he already got the money. His "best crew" did not even finish the job. They left my microwave after i told them FIVE times to get it, my vaccume, and other things. They almost left my balcony storage unit.
Affordable Movers. Do Not use these people. They cancelled on us 14 hours in advance. I had to be on the job for a job transfer and my husband could not lift anything due to back surgery. They cost us our time and more money for not doing what they promised. My husband had to drive the truck and had to hire 4 men to load and unload. It was frustrating and uncalled for. They called my cell phone and left a message that they could not move us with no reason.
never use these guys..read this before calling.
As if moving were not stressful enough, All Moves Affordable moving company turned a stressful day into an absolute nightmare. I scheduled a move with this company that was to begin at 9:00 a.m. in the morning, I confirmed with their office the day before and was assured that we were on schedule. Not only did they not show up at 9 a.m., they led us on all day calling with one excuse after another -- i.e. helper didn't show up, had to get a replacement, problem with deposit on rental truck (Do moving companies rent trucks?), forgot to rent pads, etc. until 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The person who was to be doing the actual move was extremely rude, he was only concerned about us being nice to him when he showed up (6 hours late at that point). The owner would not return phone calls and the office person seemed so oblivious to any of the events that had happened that she called on Sunday morning to see if "everything had been taken care of", I said "NO, they never showed up!!!"
From this experience, I have learned that you should always get a contract, which by the way these people never mentioned.
