Great customer service...they'll talk to u bout anything. – Really cool history. Who wouldn't want to drink & hang out where the great legendaries like Al Capone, Henry Ford, and Mark Twain did the same thing???

The place was Chicago. The time was the 1920s. A character named "Scarface" Al Capone became a bouncer in a little saloon called the Brown Derby Blues Bar. He embraced with vigor any opportunity to shoot a hired slugger in the face with a .38 revolver. Violence was the gangland tradition back then and the Brown Derby Blues bar was a popular watering hole for gamblers, fences, labor officials and hired sluggers. Al would often meet there with "Mockingbird" Whalen and Jack "Greasy Thumb" Buzik, a couple of well known thugs of the time.

The light was kept low over the bar above the Brown Derby Blues Bar and Al and his friends would amuse themselves here. Capone would often fortify himself from behind the bar with gin and milk and was once heard saying, "I drink at the bar in which I should be murdered.

On June 7, 1920, Al Capone talked the bar owner, Diamond Joe Esposito, to move the bar to the "Patch" a tough Irish neighborhood at 48th and Halstead, traditionally a sinister part of East Chicago. A year later, Dennis "the Duke" Cooney and his cohorts drove madly by and shot the place to pieces with Tommy guns killing 2 of Capone's henchmen and wounding Diamond Joe who lay bleeding profusely atop the bar.

After much tim and research it has been established that the following notable personalities at one time or another frequented the bar during those reckless white knuckle days of prohibition: Florenz Zeigfeild, Stanford White, Mark Twain, Jules Verne, John L. Sullivan, George Bernard Shaw, Orville Wright, Henry Ford, William Randolph Hearst, Studs Lonigan, Damon Runton, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Clarence Darrow, and John Barrymore.

Today, this unique bar from the Brown derby blues bar has moved again and is located in Wichita, Kansas at Remington's which is in the Clarion Inn & Suites on West Kellogg Dr.
