Cuban food in China (Alhambra)?.
First time trying Cuban food and came away impressed. Went around 6pm on a Wednesday.
From the outside the restaurant looks deceiving (cramped). However, once you step in, the restaurant is expansive and the lighting is versatile enough for a date or a dinner with friends. It had a nice ambiance, good and attentive service (I asked for 4 different sauces and they brought it without attitude or disgust in their face in addition to refilling our diet cokes 3x...maybe because it wasn't busy?)
I don't remember the exact names of the dishes but we tried 1) breaded chicken with black beans and rice, 2) new york steak with mushroom sauce, and 3) french fries. All were delicious and served in hearty portions.
I live in the Pasadena area so cuban options are limited but glad I found this one.
Prices are about $15-20 a dish.
Little chilly inside, so if you're a broad or taking one I suggest bringing a sweater or jacket just in case.
Awesome Place!. Reviewed by: Anissa Tetreault We went in on a Saturday night with 6 people, got seated within 5 minutes. The food was great the drinks were PERFECT, the music awesome, and the service was wonderful. I highly recommended The Cuban Bistro. I loved the Mango Mojitos!
Ok Cuban food. So Im cuban and I know what cuban food is all about. This place is OK if you think Taco Bell is really authentic Mexican food. Dont get me wrong it wasnt horrible food but its not traditonal cuban food. Ambience was nice and service was good. But if you are looking for real cuban food I recomend going to El Colmao in Los Angeles. My family loves going there when they visit from Fresno, its the highlight of their trip. That should mean something...that they would travel 500 miles to eat there and they are hard core cubans straight from Havana.
Good Food, good service. I have been going to Cuban Bistro for quite some time now since I live in the area. Being Cuban myself I was going with very high expectations. I have to say the food did not disappoint at all. The Mango mojitos are SO GOOD!!! The appetizers to the desert were awesome and the restuarant is very nicely decorated. This place is great for a date, or sometimes I go with my daughter and it is perfect. Try it out. I hear they have live music but since I go doing the week I haven't been able to experience that yet.
great mango mojitos, tasty food. I think this is a solid restauraunt in Alhambra with reliably good food, a fun festive atmosphere (live music if you go at the right times), and really good mojitos. If you like mangos and you like mojitos, try their mango version - you won't be disappointed. The food isn't cheap, but I think it's good - at least better than average. I prefer Versaille's food (and the servings at Versaille are much larger), but I live closer to Alhambra than Hollywood. My biggest complaint about the food is they never give enough of the fried plantains (come on guys - and plantains are cheap!). Probably not the best place for a quiet, relaxing evening, but great if you're looking for high energy and great drinks. I've already been a few times and will find myself there again.
Experience the Cuban Bistro!. The CB is one of my local favorite spots... I truly recommend you experience a bit of Cuba for yourself. If you are seeking to have a great evening with a sit down dinner, appetizers, or just drinks this place is a must. It offers a lively ambiance especially on the weekends as you enter and hear the rythmic sounds of salsa which captivate your soul. They have a live band and a small dance floor for those of you who want to show off your latest salsa moves just beware because the competition can be stiff. If you are looking to have an enchanted evening with some Latin/Cuban flare I recommend you stop by and discover the buzz for yourself. I recommend reservations to avoid any waiting due to it's popularity. For some of us this is as close to Havana as we will ever get.
I was so embarasssed.
The last time I was there with friends from out of town I had the worst experiance.
We had a party of 5 and they had seatted us at a table for 4. One member of our party was forced to sit that the end of the table; in a space about 1.5 to 2 feet between our table and the next.
One person had 5 bites from another plate; they had a split charge for it ($6)
The Meatballs in the meatballs soup were not cooked through; centers were still raw.
Our waiter spilled sangria on one person, was rude, and complete unhelpful.
Be sure to check they don't charge you gratuity if you thought the service was bad. They tried to charge us 20% gratuity for that night
a definite favorite. I always enjoy going to this place. Usually catch it for dinner on the weekends, and its always busy. Very popular, but for good reason. The food is great, the bartenders make good drinks, and on friday nights they always have a live band serving up some great salsa music. Its even fun just to stop by for drinks if you dont have time for dinner. But I highly recommend making reservations cuz this place is popular and the wait for a table would be awhile.
Oh No, Just Below Expectations!. The service was great, but the food was boring. I didn't know Cuban food was so heavily influenced by serving fruits with their seafood. Almost everything tasted sweet with fruits on them, I mean sweet fruits all over my fish, riced cooked with fruit juice??? At least that's how it tasted, the vegetables are tasteless with its natural juices only (bland). I only like the "Papas Rellenas" appetizer. Great restaurant, but the sweet fruity taste does not help me get the best out of my food.
Best Cuban Restaurant in LA. The Cuban Bistro serves great cuban food. They have a small menu, but all the dishes they have are delicious, including their drinks and their deserts. The prices are reasonable and the service is great.
