Harper's Bazaar Article – At Salon De Shyou you can see the magic in an hour. Surprisingly, facial lines fainted after just one treatment. Salon De Shyou specializes in skincare. This salon its celebrities favorite and the refer to Shyou as "Magic hands". The Salon sits quietly on a corner of SoHo. Shyou's high quality technique has won her the respect of many fans for over 20 years.
The Greatest Investment – The best facial I've ever gotten. Thanks to Shyou I have built my confidence back, and I look beautiful.
There?s no Business like Shyou business – I have battled with bad acne most of my life and have tried almost every recommended solution under the sun with little to no success. When I expressed my frustration to a friend, she told me to go to Salon de Shyou ASAP. Thank goodness I did, because after every session my 15 year skin problem cleared up more and more. Today I am so grateful to Shyou for fixing my skin. I have joined her group of loyal followers that have been with her for more than twenty years. Shyou is the best in the business and I highly recommend her to everyone.
Facialist gone bad – I agree with the previous person who posted a comment. I have been going to Shyou since the place opened about 7 years now.
I was a regular client who came in monthly. Her facials used to be outstanding and that is why she received so many wonderful writeups. I don't know if it all went to her head but over the years I have realized she is a very fake person who puts on a song and dance to make herself look good.
Her extractions were superb and I would leave with great smooth and clear skin. Now she spends 5 minutes extracting and left me under the mask for almost 30 minutes!!! I didn't pay thousands of dollars for a package to get worse and worse treatments each time I come in.
The worst was that every time I made a morning appointment she showed up 10-20minutes late! Other times she's put me under a mask and left me for 20-30minutes and forgot about me while I hear her blabbing on the phone in the other room! She''s also become more and more pushy with her products. Not suggesting them but practically telling you if you don't then it will be your fault if your skin doesn't improve.
I'm very dissapointed in her. I used to reccommend her to all of my friends and now I just tell them to stay away.
Greedy Facialist Undercuts Service While Hiking Up Prices – I have been going to Shyou for two years now and while she used to be an amazing facialist...she has become less and less interested in providing good service over my last few appointments. Facials used to be an hour and 15 minutes are now done in well under an hour and my last one was only 45 minutes. I booked the first appointment of the day to which Shyou showed up 20 minutes late...which would be fine except she removed my mask as soon as she applied it because we were out of time. Usually my mask is left on for 10 to 15 minutes. Extractions, which used to be her specialty and on which she would spend a lot of time, are now done in under 5 minutes...I actually timed it my last appointment. Instead of the peel she used to use, she used some "enzyme" that felt like nothing and had no results. Even a few days later, my skin actually looked worse last time after the facial rather than better. She has suffered from the syndrome that small restaurants suffer from after getting good reviews...the quality and service go down while prices get hiked up.
Her facials used to be $160 but are now $180 and are a joke in terms of value for money. I had actually recommended this place to a lot of my friends and colleagues but unless you want her to do nothing but gouge your face out instead of doing careful, skillful extractions as she used to and have NOTHING better to do with $180, don't bother going to her again. So sad when someone who used to care about quality sells out to make more money for doing less. Showing up late to appointments and cutting corners, using inferior products, not doing extractions or leaving a mask one...gone is the once great facialist dubbed "magic hands" by naive people like me.
Best Facial – I love Shyou! I've been recieving facials and other treatments from her for almost 15yrs! I love her Soho location. Shyou is a highly skilled, and knowledgeable technician. She just doesn't give you a facial, but she educates you on how to care and manage your skin conditions. Shyou also has high quality skin care products available for purchase at her salon, but will also suggest more affordable products you can buy at your local pharmacy. Shyou is straight foward, honest and really cares about her clients. The treatment room is cozy, her assistant massages your arms, hands and feet while you recieve your facial....ecstasy!
Never had a problem with her, I would highly recommend!
Stay away from this place - you will get scarred – I visited this place after reading a review in a magazine. I left there being told that my red skin would calm down in a day or two. Three days later, I had red marks on my face. I was so distraught, I went to my dermatologist, who told me that my vessels had broken and that I would need laser treatment to correct the redness! Stay away.
