WOW me every time! – I have been here many occasions and have never been disappointed in any dish or with service! This is one of the top three overall consisteant restaurants in Dallas! If you love oysters you have to visit the raw bar. It is comfortable and the service from the bar staff is top notch. The dining room is plush, the noise level perfect and the booths are the best in the city. As far as the food; NO BETTER SEAFOOD IN THE SOUTHWEST! Hands down the freshest I have tasted outside of California. Oceanaire consistenetly supplies the most pleasurable and consistent dining experience of anywhere in Dallas. I have been taking my clients to Oceanaire for four years and many have returned on their own!
horrible beyond words – this is some of the worst seafood i've ever had. the crabcakes were decent, but everything else (esp. the shellfish combination) was such a waste of time and money! SO dry and unfresh!!
Best seafood around! – I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great seafood restaurant in Dallas, of all places. When we walked into the Westin Hotel (through some construction for what looks like a major renovation) lobby and found the entrance to the Oceanaire, it was like walking into the dining room of an oceanliner from the 50s. The atmosphere was a bit startling at first but made me feel like I was stepping back in time. I kept waiting to see Fred and Ginger come waltzing by our table.
The server was prompt and helped recommend a nice glass of wine from an extensive list. Then he told us about the menu and helped steer us toward some great food. The Ahi Tuna was some of the best I have ever had. The portions are so large we had to have a to go bag. The prices are a little on the high end but for what you get, it is well worth it.
We throughly enjoyed dining there and will be back. We have eaten fresh seafood on both coasts and the Oceanaire was beyond anything we have enjoyed so far.
WORST SERVICE EVER!! – We had a very awful experience at this restaurant! The service is beyond horrible, until the check is delivered and THEN they are willing to get you anything you like, for a good tip. The Maitre D is RUDE!! Overall I woudl Not go to this restaurant. For a dinner for 4 it was $250... and the food is less than impressive!!
Ultra-fresh seafood and a retro 1930s setting found inside the Westin Galleria. – In Short
An upscale ambience evokes the classic elegance of a classic luxury ocean liner with white tablecloths, red leather banquettes and semiprivate dining rooms. Featuring seafood flown in fresh daily, signature dishes include jumbo lump crab cakes and stuffed flounder. The raw bar features several varieties of oysters from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and beyond. An extensive wine list provides a wide range of choices to tempt any palate.
pleasant surprise – I was very apprehensive because this restaurant is in the Galleria, but I was pleasantly surprised! Not only is the seafood delicious and fresh, the waitstaff is wonderful. I've been twice already and I have a great dining experience every time. I love the variety of fresh oysters they have! YUMMY!
Unbelievable Seafood! – As we entered we were immediately at ease, a very warm welcome as we entered continued throughout the meal from the servers to the bussers. The food is outstanding! If you are an oyster lover, you must try the 10 or so varieties of oysters offered! The portions are large, you won't go away hungry. The food is prepared so the fish is the star, not over-sauced. We all had different fish, all excellent! You must try the hashbrowns, these are the real deal, filled with tabasco, onions and bacon. The key lime pie is the best I ever had! It is baked and soooooo good! So good I had to take a piece home! I live in Dallas and will definitely return.
A nice find... – We were staying at the Westin Galleria Dallas and not up to another night of roomservice. This place is right off the lobby. A bit noisy for a Monday evening, but the service was prompt, efficient and Texas-friendly. Nice variety of food and fresh, fresh, fresh! A little pricey for everyday, but nice for special event or if you're on an expense account.
"What a restaurant!" – We heard that this was the place for fantastic seafood. We thought, " In Dallas?" ...everything must be from the Gulf. Then we tried it. WOW!! There must have been 30 or so selections on the menu from all over the world. Their crab cake was delicious (sweet, tender, almost all crab), and their staff was unbelievably friendly and knowledgable. I would definitely invite you to try them out if you are looking for fresh seafood in Dallas.
