Best Crab Legs All You Can Eat Wed. Nite/GREAT Service Janelle & Steve in Bar, Great Band Tim O'Brien Band (Jazz & Blues) – On my BDay 9/24/2008 a Wednesday Nite, My husband took me out to the Fridley Crab House.
I got to tell you I had read several reviews that weren't very favorable on this place, but because I had a craving for Crab, and, this place was fairly close I thought what the heck I'll give ita shot. Am I glad we did!!!
We sat at the Bar and have a cocktail, Steve the Bartender's service & cocktails were Great! Janell one of the wait servers was seated nearby at he time I thought she was a customer and inquired about the crab legs. Janell assured me they were great and in fact she had ordered some for herself and she would let me try some (What a Sweetie!). While enjoying our Great Service, Cocktails, We were enterained by a Fab Band "Tim O'Brian Band", (Great Jazz & Blues) not alone Great Personalities! (They even let well known Jazz /Blues Players set in and do sets with them from time to time!) ....By the Way, The All You Can Eat Wednesday Nite Crab Legs..that Janell let us try, We later ordered & ate to our hearts content all nite!!! Mmmmmm Mmmmmmm Good!
We will be telling all our friends about this great place!!!
Be careful what you order!!! – I came into the Fridley Crab House for the first time this past weekend and sat at the bar and ordered a drink, when I overheard what appeared to be a couple of regulars talking to the bar tender about opening a fresh bottle of Jack Daniels, which I thought was odd, since there was a full one behind the bar. That was untill I tasted my drink! It did not taste right so I thought, I'l try the same thing. The problem was is when the bar tender went to get a new bottle, I noticed that the seal was already broken on the bottle?? Whats that all about??? I realize that happy hour only charges $2/drink but you should get what your actually buying!!! I'd rather pay $5/drink at a dirty strip joint, (although the Crab House isnt much differen than one!!), but at least you know that you get what you"re paying for!!!
I would recommend it for Happy Hours great value! There's a choice of some great appetizers to go along with your drinks. It gets really busy, but is a good deal. The bathrooms need some work, though.
AVOID...At all costs!!! – We went to the podium the staff started yelling to us that the brunch was over. (Which we didn't come for anyway!!) They say they ran out of food it was so busy. So we sat at a table near the cobweb covered window. Got our drinks then ordered Coconut Shrimp appetizer.....BAD!!! If you could get it off the huge skewer maybe OK then. We ordered our food Steak and shrimp and 2 kids meals, she comes back 20 minutes later and says our cook just told me they are out of the kids meals. So I tell her they liked the breadsticks could we get more of those (they got 2 originally), so she brought me 2 again( GREAT<)!! My husband commented about the cold food to me, I commented about the fatty New York Strip Steak. We both left pretty much all of our food. She did bring out fried adult shrimp (not the popcorn size) for the kids since they didn't have meals and fries. When we got our bill all of the prices were overcharged almost everything we bought had a $1 or $2 added onto it, we also had a happenings book coupon. Asked about the overcharging she took $4 off......we wish we would have just went to Applebees down the street!!! The fat owner just sat on his a$$ in dining counting money and his nasty kids ran around in pajamas.....GREAT PLACE!!!!
Food and Service Bites but if your luck so do the local skanks and the waitresses....LIterally!!! – One can't say enough about the crabhouse... mismanaged, unclean, terrible food, drunken waitresses, and of course the full spectrum of alcohol pickled oldtimers, local drunks, and the proverbial homies that shows up for the super skanky slutts...
But all in all... if you like cheap food, cheap drinks, and cheap women this is your place...
Also,, try the back patio... between the local sluts and the drunken waitstaff your bound to get lucky or at least a case of "the crabs"
Stay Away – We went here only after learning that Joe's Crabshack in Roseville was out of business. The food was barely above room temp when it arrived, the the taste was lacking. This was just a bad experience all around. Upon notifying the waitress that the food was cold, she offered no compensation or remedy to the problem (I don't send food back to kitchens since I fear it'll be loogie-laden when I get it back). This place is truly a DUMP.
Horrible Sunday Brunch – We arrived around 12:30 on Sunday, June 15 (Father's Day) and were immediately left stranded at the hostess stand, waiting to be seated. No one arrived to seat us for close to five minutes. Finally, the guy cutting the ham and prime rib asked if we had been helped and when we replied that we hadn't he put down his knife and went to find a hostess. As we were being seated, I asked whether we could order off the menu or if it was only the brunch buffet at that time. She replied that in order to get the 2 for 1 Father's Day deal, we both had to get the buffet. As it sounded like a great deal, we both decided to get the buffet. Our waitress did not arrive to take our drink orders until 10 minutes after our seating, even though the dining room was quite empty (should have been a clue). The buffet consisted of one very picked over tray of dry looking/tasting fruit (cantalope mostly) and a tray of dry looking/tasting vegetables (mostly baby carrots), powdered scrambled eggs, no bacon, french toast sticks, mini waffles, mini pancakes (which all appeared to be frozen food items and had just been reheated for the brunch), some kind of alfredo pasta (which I didn't take because it smelled bad), lumpy mashed potatoes and gravy, overcooked chicken breasts, what appeared to be ribs (didn't take because they looked so bad), ham and prime rib. The food ranged from bland to just plain bad. Worse were the serving utensil's provided to dish up the food. They clearly had been sitting out all morning and they were covered in dried food and looked absolutely disgusting. It was hard to even dish your food up with them because they were so unappetizing and filthy looking. And to top it all off, we both had to pay for the buffet as the 2-for-1 deal only applied to tables of four. It was insult to injury. Honestly, I would rather eat at Old Country Buffet than this place again. I would never go back and certainly would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, for any reason.
Comfortable Atmosphere-Good Crab – We were a group of four and went to the Fridley Crab House last Wednesday for the All You Can Eat Crab. After reading the earlier reviews we had second thoughts about going but we are glad we did. We had no trouble getting reorders on the crab. The waitress told us reorders were taking about ten minutes so she asked us if we would like to reorder before we even completely finished the first serving. I liked the crab soup although I did add a lot of pepper to it. It was my son-in-laws first time eating crab and the waitress was helpful in showing him how to break them open. A band started in the lounge around eight o'clock but it was not too loud for the dining room. The waitress said it is their house band and they play every Wednesday. It was kind of bluesy. This particular night there was a lot of fog over the lake and it made for a beautiful view. We didn't try anything else on the menu but we would go back here for crab.
Wednesday - all you can eat crab - best deal in town! Immediate seating - great happy hour deals! – Crab is NOT salty like many other places we've been to. Enjoy a cocktail in the bar at wonderful happy hour prices - with Wednesday having a high quality meat raffle. Popovers, big salad, and choice of potato included in the all you can eat crab - best value in town. Service is slower until happy hour is over.
Great Food, Great service – I love this place- I always get the Spinach Crab Cheese Dip and the Filet mignon. It has a separate bar where my boyfriend and I go to have a couple cocktails before hand. The bartender Steve is always so funny and helpful. When we go into the restaurant, we always sit by the lake and look at the view!! I recommend this place to everyone I talk to, because every time we've been there, it's great!
