poor customer service – I have shopped here a few time, never tried to sell. The people who work here are not very friendly, I have had to wait for someone to check me out numerous times. I don't really think the selection is all that great which is strange since I have seen them turn down some really cute clothes. They should mark down the "not so cute" stuff they have on the rack and then they wouldn't have to turn down the good stuff...Last time I went I walked in at 4:55 and was told they were closing in a not very nice way and the sign on the door said the store hours where until 6. I have seen much better resale stores in austin, so I guess I will stick with kid to kid up north from now on.
The Pumpkin Patch Children – very good place to shop for thing for all ages.
Thanks for 13 great years! – Thank you to our loyal customers for taking the time to review us! Locally-owned and here in Austin for 13 years now, we love what we do! We give our customers the opportunity to bring in the items they no longer need and receive cash for those -- or turn around get a great deal on what their children are into now. Where else can you do that?? If you are considering where to sell your items or shop for your child, we hope the following information will be of help to you.
ON SELLING YOUR ITEMS; This is a supply and demand business. On clothing, we often get overstocked on certain sizes (especially the smaller sizes) and must be very selective. If you want to sell your clothing present it well, in a basket, not a bag. We often look at hundreds of items each day, so it's always best to bring them DURING BUYING HOURS and in nice condition. If they meet our current critera, we'll make you an offer of cash or store credit right away! WHEN YOU SHOP, YOU PICK OUT WHAT YOU LIKE AND WHAT YOU REALLY NEED, RIGHT? WE DO EXACTLY THE SAME THING!. So please don't be offended by what we choose not to purchase. We must be selective in order the provide the best selection of inventory we can each day and have MANY factors to consider.
Not happy with your offer? It's up to you! Let us know at the time of the offer and you may certainly keep your items. It's always your choice.
Lastly, although we strive to be "Perfect", we are human. Have a question? We are truly glad to help. Really! Many of our employees have been with us for YEARS, and we strive to helpful and knowledgeable at every level. We hope you'll come see us. We look forward to serving you. PUMPKIN PATCH
Not worth the Effort – In lieu of having a garage sale for all the school clothes that my children had out grown, my mother and I opted for consignment. I gave the Pumpkin Patch a call an was advised of when they did their buy back. The day before my mom helped me launder and iron over 50pr of pants/jeans and God only knows how many shirts! We arrived a bit early at 0930 since we were told to be there at 1000 - and was promptly greeted (by the mgr) with a 'We dont open until 1000, you'll have to wait' - okay no big deal.... Once the store had OFFICIALLY opened we took our clothing items in 3huge laundry baskets full and I proceded to watch in horror as this women ripped thru the clothing the mom had worked so tirelessly to make 'presentable' the mgr. selected 7pr of pants and offered us $12.00 or $14.00 dollars store credit. I asked her really?? And her response was well you bought them at Wal-Mart (a store i love). UNBELIEVEABLE I thought. Well needless to say, I'll be having my garage sale in two weeks!! And am positive I will get more then $12.00 for 7pr of pants!!
After a walk thru of the store it did have that resale store smell, and well I guess they had already sold all of their 'buy back' clothes from Macy's, Nordstrom and SAKs!
I will never go back and wouldnt advise anyone else too. Sorry but this was not the best first impression.
A Great Resale shop – I am a fan of The Pumpkin Patch Children's Store. I manage the South Store for over 4 years now and I love my job. We are a great team of people. The owners are very down to earth, sweet, and giving people. What I have learned from them is to be reasonable and respectful, to have a good time professionally, and to give back to the community. Because most of our employees have been with us for a long time we have established relationships with the customers, we know them by name, and best of all we get to watch the children grow up. We hope that when you visit with us you will be satisfied. We are so grateful for everyone who shops with us. Thankyou from everyone at The Pumpkin Patch Children's Store.
Worst Childrens Store I've been to in a long time – I went to the Pumpkin Patch resale shop yesterday and was disgusted with the store in its entirety. The prices were not fair AT ALL, the "buy back" amounts that were offered to customers was below minimal standards, and the management was rude and unhelpful. The owners/managers did not do a good job in greeting customers, they were too busy ripping people off who were trying to sell items to the store. I overheard the lady giving a quote to a customer, $1.00 for a shirt and $.50 for shorts! According to buying procedures, they purchase items at resale value and you are offered 45% cash or 55% store credit. I did not find clothes or just about anything in the store for the amounts they were offering customers. I was there when the managers and the cashier were there, and I saw them pricing things they just bought for a few dollars for almost 4-5 times more than they purchased for.
On top of that, or rather below it, the poor cashier was sick!! She made numerous trips to the employees room and was constantly being called to the front to work the register and price merchandise. I personally would not like to buy merchandise that was sneezed on or handled by someone who is sick. I wish the poor thing would have been sent home instead of forced to work with those mean people.
No customer service, over-priced merchandise, underpaid purchase items, and terrible management. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's a shame.
