Tips for Shep Salon
Highly Recommended. I'm a husband that knows so little about hair fashion it's laughable. I will say, however, that my wife appreciates Shep and has enjoyed going periodically for the past year. I can also say that I have spoken with the owner on a few occasions and I hold him in the highest regard. Barring my lack of understanding of their expertise as stylists, I would recommend this salon to anyone simply based on the integrity of their business dealings.

I have been to many stylists and salons in my life and have always left disappointed, totally massacred (my hair), or immediately wanting something different done.
Not at Shep Salon!
I see their stylist Twix, who is by far the most talented and helpful person I have ever been to. He has plenty of suggestions and ideas, and knows exactly what he is doing. He is very personable, comfortable to be around, and I have never been so happy with my hair...ever! Also does complimentary bang trims in between hair cuts which I love.
The salon itself is stylish and professional. This is more than just a haircut/color...it's an EXPERIENCE, and a fantastic one at that. It's a little on the pricier side, but worth every penny. I have found my salon for life!
Nothing comes close in Utah, or anywhere else for that matter!. Luckily I do live in Utah so I can see Shep reguarly. If I ever move I will fly back to see him. He is the best hands down and I'm from LA and have lived in San Francisco, Washington DC and San Diego so that's saying a lot. A few months ago I was in New York and after a few blocks I started to get the creeps as I realized some guy was following me down 5th Ave. He finally stopped me before I went into a store to find out who cut my hair. Turns out he was a salon owner and wanted to see if he could poach my stylist. This is not the only incident like this - my husband jokes that he is going to get me a t-shirt that says, "Shep does my hair" with his number on it so people would stop coming up to me to ask that very question. The best thing about Shep and everyone that works there is that they are consumate professionals and the salon is hip and a little haven of metropolitana, but they are the nicest, friendliest least arrogant stylists I have ever met.
If you are looking for a great hair style you just found it at Shep Salon. If I am in Utah or anywhere near this is the only place I would go for a haircut. I loved one of my coworkers hair and asked her for her secret she told me to go there. I did and I'm hooked. I've since moved to Virginia, and am depressed that I do not have my salon, I will be back in 2008 and that is one of the number one places to go, until then my hair is suffering. I know all of the stylist there are great but Summer was my girl.
Awesome salon--Best in Utah. I love Shep Salon. It is the only place I will go for a haircut--and I don't even live in Utah. I make sure every time we are in the area I have an appointment, and I've never had anything less than a fabulous haircut. I will have people stop me in the street and ask me where I get my hair cut. Boy are they disappointed when I tell them the place is in Utah. They specialize in making drastics haircuts, so if you are looking for a completely new look, they won't let you down. I don't know that I'd go there if you just want an inch off---the stylists are almost too talented to be wasted on a trim.

Shep Salon is easily on par with the finest salons in fashionable metropolitan areas like N.Y., San Francisco, etc. I stumbled upon Shep's a couple years ago and have been going back ever since, which isn't easy as I live in the San Francisco bay area.
Go check it out; you won't regret it! And tell them Ricardo sent you!
I just keep getting compliments. After seeing a friend get a wonderful, funky haircut I asked where she'd gone to have it done, and I was referred to this place--to Patrick specifically. I went just recently, and for the past two weeks everyone has been complimenting me--often several times. There's an initial compliment when my friends first see me, and a second compliment when they see me again. Great atmosphere, beautifully decorated (I like steel, concrete, and frosted glass) and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend it. (though as a side note, my appointment started just a bit late and went a bit longer than I expected--I relished every moment of it, but you should schedule plenty of time for it.)
