Prepare for poor service if you are not a local – Called & made reservations. Resturant was not busy @ all.
Took FOREVER to get drinks. Finally when we asked what was going on we were promptly told "I will go ahead and cancel your dinner order if you are not satisfied". I have never had anyone offer to cancel my order prior to answering our request as to where our drinks were. It was as if she wanted us to leave. We further asked what type of an establishment is this and we were told.."A neighborhood resturant..locals only". All of our jaws dropped and when we finally agreed with her that we should leave the bartender loudly said "Your kidding! I just made their drinks!". This was 45 minutes after we ordered.
I maybe think that they were so frazzeled because a table before us seated outside decided to leave prior to their meals...I bet it was for a similar reason.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Staff – Displaced New Yorkers, homesick for their corner Italian sandwich deli, can find solace here.
Comfortable – Great food and wine and the owner comes around and jokes with everyone. A fun casual neighborhood feel.
Great atmosphere, good food – Food is great! Owner Warren is even better. He makes your visit fun and comfortable. He makes you feel as if you are part of the family. Excellent food, reasonable prices. Wait time can be a bit long due to limited and very personable staff. Often the owner will be your server. If you are a very private, or an inpatient person this place is not for you.
Will return again and again.
Best Little Spot in the NE – We love this place! In addition to phenomenal food, Warren, the owner makes the experience wonderful. It is perfect for intimate cocktails or a special dinner.
Renaissance Renewed! – This perfect corner cafe has once again opened its doors to the 28th ave crowd. The owner came outside and greeted us as we were checking out their menu on a particularly slow saturday night. We ended up coming in to view the three dollar martinis! Owner and bartender, Warren, makes his own infused vodkas, and the raspberry martini with fresh raspberries, and the Renaissance Xpresso martini had chocolate covered espresso beans in it. Warren's new chef (has been with them for 4 months) is an Englishman who has moved to the NW from New York. The dishes are large enough to split, and very reasonably priced. Try the new york saute, I have never had something quite like it.
What a great little place, I wish I could say more! Stop in and see Warren and Ian, it will be worth the visit!
