Go elsewhere for alterations – I went in to try on a bridesmaids dress for my sister's wedding. The dress was long, but my sister said at her David's Bridal in Spokane they assured her they could hem it to the knee to look like her other bridesmaids dresses. During the initial trying-on session here at Southcenter the seamstress showed me what it would look like as a short dress, and assured me that they could hem it short. I thought that all was well and good.
I went back for the fitting, they pinned me all up, then when I said I needed it hemmed to the knee, they refused to do it. They insisted that they are unable to hem dresses short, even after I had been told by more than one seamstress AT THAT VERY STORE beforehand that they would do it for me. They wouldn't even recommend another seamstress when I asked. They were very cold and rude, and I felt like crying.
They wasted my time and were dishonest with me. I went to another seamstress closer to where I live, and she did the job for half the money in half the time that David's would have needed.
Awful customer service – Alterations department unwilling to let dress out without an additional fee after they took it in too much.
AVOID -- or at least watch yourself, as they will get you for as much $ as possible – Long story short... I found a dress and the SEAMSTRESS told me the size to order (size 6). It came in 2 weeks later, was WAY too big, and the same SEAMSTRESS told me it was my fault I ordered the wrong size-- would have to pay David's Bridal to have it altered to the correct size (at a cost of $250, dress was only $350).
She became incredibly rude and mean-- refused to exchange or refund. Made me start crying in the store. I was making sure other brides around me heard and saw what was happening. Store manager came up and agreed to reorder the new size (probably because I other brides were overhearing-- some came up in my defense).
New dress comes in, I leave it for a "bead check" and "spot check". Come to pick it up, beads are loose and strings hanging out everywhere, with obvious marks. I truly don't believe they even touched the dress. Had to send it back 3TIMES until all beading and sewing work was properly addressed.
Constantly pushed 'accessories' like a $160 tiara, $130 veil... etc. (you can find these at 1/4 of the price elsewhere). Policy of no refunds/exchanges is only stated to you AFTER you pay.
Basically.... they just want to get your $. Once you pay, they have a no return/no exchange policy (conveniently) and they don't even budge. They don't care once they get your money. Service drops to 0. I had to fight and argue on numerous occasions to get the dress in the condition needed.
And alterations?? I didn't even consider taking it to David's. After my experience, I did research and they hire sub-par seamstresses when things get busy-- charge excessively (with hidden charges) and do a crappy job.
The lowdown?? GO SOMEWHERE ELESE!!! Try the internet for a great deal!

A chic, sleek boutique, it's not. But those willing to look carefully will likely find a big-time bargain. The staff is helpful and knows the merchandise but doesn't provide extensive one-on-one attention or advice. Stores (particularly on weekends) can be swamped with brides-to-be. David's specializes in beaded satin A-lines and simple lace sheaths that just hit the $500 mark. Most labels are tasteful but of medium-quality: Gloria Vanderbilt, Lady Eleanor, Oleg Cassini and the likes.
