Bad customer service! – If the waiter told you the special tonight was $20 but then after you ate your meal he/she brought a bill out for $40, how would you feel about that? That's exactly what happened when I brought my 12 year old daughter for a hair cut. The salon is so disorganized they changed stylists after I made the appt, cut my daughter's hair and THEN told me the rate would be $40 instead of the $19 that Dennis told me I would be charged over the phone when I made the appt. The stylist and front desk staff both tried to argue with me and were defensive and made me pay $26 for a haircut my daughter disliked! Never. Going. Back. Salon has gone way down hill...so many better options in N Tacoma.
Great Experience – I purchased a Groupon for a womens haircut with Dennis Fisher at Angelo Mendi Boutique Salon. I was pleasantly surprised with everyone I met while at the salon. Dennis was friendly and knowledgable. He listened to me while I explained what style I was looking for. He gave me some great styling advice too. I love my new cut and will definitely return to Angelo Mendi.
Hair CUT! – Ya know, I think the first 2 times I have gone to JB @ Angelo's I was please...Expensive & different, but I was happy to have a good....If not a very SHORT... hair style.
The Third time, not so good, I had to call and make an extra trip back and have him REDO, even out and then had to go SHORTER!~With an average exit out tally of $170.00 to $180.00 for a cut, color and tip, I was not happy.
BUT, I Went back again for the 4th haircut and am not happy AGAIN!!!~I tried to explain to him what I wanted but he did not listen....JB took two combs and ran them through my wet hair locked the combs together in the back and cut the hair off! I was SHOCKED!
I kept asking him if he was making sure that it was evenly cut in the back and he said: Oh SURE... NOT!
It's been three weeks and I still can't get a curling iron in the back of my hair and the top is too heavy.
I may try Brassfields in Tacoma~Saw on line that they were voted best for 2010..
Outstanding Salon – I started going to Angelo Mendi after another stylist stopped listening to me and gave me the same cut over and over (why do they do that?). Oliver actually listened and has consistently every time I have seen him over the past year. He recently recommended a new look for me and I hesitantly went along with it. The best suggestion I ever took! I have never received as many compliments about my new color and style. Oliver you are the best!!!
I always feel welcomed and staff are friendly....I look forward to my visits. Run, don't walk to see Oliver!
The staff are all warm and friendly.
Angelo Mendi lost an very valuable Stylist – I love going to Angelo Mendi's mostly because my brothers girlfriend Sara was a stylist there but unfortuntley she recently left (her choice). Everyone I know and who has been to Sara knows she is a sweet and excellent stylist and she will be missed by many! But thankfully I'll still be able to talk to her and hopefully she will become part of the famiy :D
Girls with curly hair should see Paige – I have been seeing Paige to get my haircuts for the past year now and she has given me the best haircuts I've ever had. I've been more impressed with her work than with far more expensive stylists in Portland and Seattle. She really understands how to give curly hair shape and layers it beautifully. I'll never go anywhere else as long as I live in Tacoma!
Love my hair. – I was a random walk-in at Angelo Mendi after having some other not-great experieces around Tacoma. Sara cuts and colors my hair and she is great. I have recommended her to several friends - who now all have really cute hair! Also, I aboslutely love the uncharacteristically comfortable shampoo stations. The salon is cool without being pretentious, and I always leave with a bounce in my step because hey...my hair looks good.
The best – I have never had more great compliments on my hair, ever.
I have gone back twice already and have had the best experiences. The people are great, and they are really friendly. It's nice to go to a salon that has employees that seem to like their jobs and each other too.
I have and will recommend this salon to more people.
Mendi, not worth the trip – I made an appointment with Angelo Mendi months prior to do a trial run for my wedding coming up in August. I drove down from Seattle, and was treated horribly as soon as I sat in his chair. All he kept saying was "you have so much hair", and shaking his head no. Finally he says " I can't do it". I was shocked since I'm no Crystal Gail. Was he actually kicking me out of his chair, after making the appt. 3 mo. ago, and driving down from Seattle in traffic? I was stunned, confused, and shocked that he would talk down to me like that. He then passed my head of hair to his apprentice Sara (who was very kind), who started curling my hair after she had to be shown how to use the curling iron. Mind you, I am paying Mendi's rates. Before I could see the final result, I was asked to check out while I was still in the chair. The total was $70 and I said "go ahead and make it $90". Thinking that for a $70 fee that I would give a $20 tip. Checking my receipts when I got home, I was surprised that they charged me $160.00!!! Are you kidding me, they thought when I said "make it $90", that I meant a $90 tip!!! Even Mendi's high profile clients who he kept boasting about wouldn't even do that. This was such a bad salon experience for me that I couldn't sleep all night. He should never talk to a person/client the way he did, and I should have never taken it.
BEST SALON EVER!! – This salon rocks. I got a great cut and an awsome color. Turns out parking is not a problem tons of parking behind the salon at stadium thriftway! My stylist was very talented and she gave me some great styling tips too! I will never go anywhere else. This place is a hidden treasure in the heart of stadium district. Also the front desk staff is super nice and accomodating from the minute you walk in the door!
