What Our Expert Scouts Say

October 13, 2012

It is normally hard to pry me away from my Thai standby - phad kee mao - but the curries at Buddha Ruksa can usually make a compelling case.

mmm mmm good thai. I live practically right across the street from this place and loooooove it. Even when I am not eating there the food smells great from my yard! Intimate dining, wonderful service and the food is beyond compare. My favorite is the Yum Neau (sp?) with the sticky rice. The duck is incredible.

GREAT Thai. Period.. This is not your average Thai joint. The food is fresh, imaginative and flavorful, without being pretentious. The customer service is attentive and pleasant, and prices are reasonable. All of this is done in a great atmosphere, that's a little more sophisticated than the brick-a-brack decor of other Thai places. Try the Black Rice Pudding and the the Crispy Garlic Chicken, among their other impressive entrees and curries.

Seattle is filled with such poor quality, fat-laden thai, that it's easy to burn out on it quickly. This restaurant is a good antidote. Set aside one night and make the trip to West Seattle. It's worth it.

forgot rice for takeout (twice!). We've had takeout a few times, and twice they've forgotten to include the rice we'd ordered in the bag. This last time, we ordered $80+ in food for 6 people who were at our house, and when we called to say what happened, the offer to remedy the situation was that we drive back and get more rice. They reluctantly agreed to not charge us for it--how generous! And when pushed, said they would refund one dish.

It was really crappy service, but I have to say the food was really good.

Great Food. We are lucky enough to live down the street from this restaurant but unfortunate for us - we didn't realize it until recently. Now that we've discovered it, we have to try not to go weekly - but it's soooo good! Highly recommended. The Spring Rolls have a lot of pepper though - so watch out for those.

The best Thai food in town!. I am so lucky to live right up the street from this joint. Always busy...and for good reason. Try the cashew chicken or the panang...it's the best around. Fried bananas for desert and you'll be back with friends in no time. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff loves to serve you! Closed on Mondays...just so you know before you drive all the way to West Seattle! Take out is better than doing dishes at home!

This place is so good!. Here is Seattle you can't look up without seeing a Thai restaurant. But Buddha Ruska is different from the other restaurants! The menu is imaginative and interesting, not just phad thai and variations on phad thai! The green curry is amazing as is the crispy chicken. We went in July, and the west side of the building is all windows, and it had been in the high 80's that day, so the interior of the restaurant was amazingly hot and uncomfortable, but we didn't mind as the food was THAT good. It's really great atmosphere too, and beautifully decorated. The prices are really reasonable too. I am shy to tell people about it because I want to keep it my secret, but it's so good and the people are so nice, I want everyone to go!

My new favorite. I love Buddha so much! The service is great, it has a nice ambiance, and the food is wonderful. Flavorful, fresh tasting, always prepared correctly. Take out is just as good as dining in, and you don't have to wait amongst others dining like some of the Thai places in this area. Crispy Garlic Chicken, Fried Squash, Phad Thai are all excellent. I can't recommend this place more.

YUM!!!!!!!!. I almost hate to give away the secret about this place. My husband and I went last night for the first time, on a neighbor's recommendation, and we were impressed. He had a chicken with fried rice dish, which was good; seemed pretty "normal". I decided to be a little more adventurous and tried the crispy garlic chicken which was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. Additionally, the service was great (energetic and hard-working); we had no reservation, but were seated right away and they went out of their way to make sure everything was good for us, without overdoing it. I can't wait to have some more crispy chicken!

Yum!. The best Thai food we have found in the Seattle area so far. Their flavors are exquisite! A smidge on the pricey side, but well worth it! Definitely dine in, instead of taking out.

The Thai Search is Over!. When we moved to West Seattle from out of state, we began trying out new Thai places. After several horrible meals, we found Buddha Ruksa. They have great ambiance. really really good thai food and fast friendly service as well as decent prices. Now we eat here almost once a week, we love it!
