We visited Chicago for the weekend and wanted to try something new. VTK was fantastic! We shared the group dining and got to sample many things, there wasn't one thing that we did not love. The price was right, service was good. I would recommend making a reservation though, we had to wait about 45 minutes, but very well worth it!

Good food, noisy restaurant – The food is good and we have been there a couple of times. It is quite a noisy place though and be sure to only go when you have made reservations. When we went, we ended up waiting even though we had reservations. Their bar is small and gets crowded.

Slow, very good. – The food was good, but it took a good 30 minute between each course.

A menu of French-Thai cuisine served in a hip, sophisticated setting. – The Scene
The clean, open space evokes subtle Asian accents, set off by a striking, fiery-red wall, gauzy gold lamé drapery and, in the small bar, a cluster of booths. Curtains hang lazily over the floor-to-ceiling windows, filtering out the city and creating a serene urban oasis. Trip-hop and cool acid jazz music provide a hypnotic soundtrack.

The Food
VTK attracts loyal fans for Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's graceful French-Thai fare. Signature favorites like chicken and coconut-milk soup and the popular Black Plate appetizer platter remain constant on the menu. VTK Rocket Rolls are a great starter too, wrapped in lettuce leaves and begging to be dipped in tangy garlic sauce. Signature entrees include shrimp and crab pad thai, panang curry chicken and miso-glazed salmon.

Great "look", Food, not so great – It's fun, hip, & in good location--since there are bar/lounges a short walk away. The food however, is just ok. If you want above average, delicous thai food, I wouldn't suggest this place. If you want "the look and feel" of a trendy hot spot, then it delivers.

The food grossed me out – The ambiance was great, however the food was awful. I got the Panang Curry Chicken. Most of the chicken was dark meat and several pieces still had skin on them. I would have sent it back if I hadn't already lost my appetite. I'll take $6 takeout from the local thai place over this food any day. I would suggest staying in the bar and sticking to the drinks!

Thai food it's not – I really wanted to like this restaurant and I did. Just not for the main reason- the food. The food was average and highly priced. I would not go back for the food. I enjoyed the ambiance, the waiter was very attentive, and our drinks were fabulous. Too bad I can't say the same for the entrees.

Fantastic Service – Recently visited this great little spot. The food was high quality, ambiance is refreshing but the SERVICE was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff

Nothing special – Fusion concepts are very often a failure, and this one is no exception.

The wasabi-tuna pizza was quite good, but the chicken curry- way to many conflicting spices & tastes. This is just another wannabe-yuppie chain restaurant. If you want good Thai, go somewhere else. If you want goof French, like wise.

so so experience – I am a big Thai fan and had heard good things - but was rather dissappointed.

The food was overly complex for the most part - in dishes where simplicity or subtlely would be a better route. Several of the appetizers had too much mint or other similar ingredients that overpowered.

If you go, I would recommend the Chicken Curry. It was very good and the desserts were excellent - Pad thai was dissappointing. I spent more time chewing on large onion slices than noodles.
