Diners come to this motel diner in River North for friendly service, nostalgic decor and the hearty breakfasts of champions. – In Short
They don't call it the biggest little restaurant in the world for nothing. Teeny tiny but with a giant breakfast menu, this original dive coffee shop abounds in delightful contradictions. Lucky for the patrons who enjoy the Route 66 ambiance, the place hasn't been updated much since it opened in 1960. One elderly and super-fast fry cook runs the show, and wait staff are prompt and small town chatty. Specials, like the chicken fried steak or the biscuit with gravy plus two eggs and hash browns, are true home-cooked goodness.
Perfect! – Can you appreciate a cheap, throwback diner with a raspy-voiced waitress who should be named ?Mary Lou?, ?Alice? or ?Lynette?? A place where the smell of bacon fills the room, with ripped vinyl booths, a butter caked griddle, and old strange characters chain smoking and coughing at the counter? A place that has caused its share of clogged arteries and heart attacks with delicious eggs, hash browns, toast, and coffee, all for like $5? Can you appreciate that? If not, then I feel sorry for you ? don?t go. If you can, then like me, you?ll love the Ohio House.
Old Skool – The Ohio House is a classic. Nothing fancy here, just a good breakfast, and tasty burgers. Totally old school, the restaurant has been here for forty years, serving the same all day breakfast (try the Deuces Wild --way better than a Grand Slam) or the Dagwood burger -- a double cheeseburger with olives. Good omelettes and hash browns too.
Old school – This little spot makes a tasty burger. They also serve breakfast all day. It's a small place with smoking inside, so if you don't like smoke, you might not like this place. But, the food and service were both good and I will be going back.
