Great place to hang out with friends – Great place. A bunch of us from work met here Friday evening and secured a spot right up front with the window view. Highly recommend the window spot. Friendly server, fun atmosphere, and best of all you had some action around you, but could still chat with your party and hear them as well.
Would go again in a minute.
Neighborhood pub appeals to River North residents, lunchtime crowd and after-work set. – The Scene
Predating the area's influx of high-end galleries, restaurants and clubs, this corner bar has a historical vibe. Under the original tin ceilings, a massive dark-wood mirrored bar runs along the left of the dimly lit main room; high-top tables and a jukebox fill the area to the right. Brehon has more than Irish-ness going for it; service is efficient and the ambience welcoming.
Bar offerings include a good selection of beers and ales, including nearly a dozen on tap and several more in bottles and cans. There also is a full bar and handful of wines available. A lunch crowd comes for pub standards like steak sandwiches, fish and chips, classic burgers and salads. A cordoned-off patio with a half-dozen or so tables buzzes at post-quitting time when the weather is warm.
Best hole in the wall Chicago has! – while living in North Chicago, there was no place better to have a good time at an inexpensive price than going to The Brehon Pub. The staff - always friendly, and never let you glass go dry. Whether it was a shot of Absolut and a LaBatt's BLue or Three Wise Men and Bacardi 151, Chad and the gang always made quality dirnks at a fair price.
After-work delight – Brehon has a great neighborhood-y feel and a wonderfully friendly staff. Service is prompt and gracious, and the the atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious. While there are a few business folks in suits enjoying after-work drinks, this place is decidedly casual. The sidewalk area is a pleasant place to sit in the summertime.
Good hangout – Went here with some friends last night and had a fine time. The bar was crowded enough, but not too packed, and the drinks were reasonably priced. I loved the service -- the bar staff, the waitstaff, even the busser and the cook all were extraordinarily nice and helpful. This is a great place to have drinks outside when the weather is as lovely as it was last night.
Good for after work – This is a great place to sit outside and drink. The service is good and the beer specials are nice.
