What has happen to the Tapper ? – I live in Chicago now and was in Northlake today so I thought I'd stop at the Tapper for lunch It's been 2 years since the last time. Boy was I surprised , the wings I had were so small and did'nt taste that great. The people I use see working are all gone and the bartenders and ouner were only spesking Polish. I guess everything changes. I'll never go back there again we miss you JERRY.
Agreed, Decent Local Watering Hole – This is a decent local watering hole, as for beer and shots, anyone can get them anywhere, this place does not stand out in that capacity. They have one bartender who is wonderful, yet who I think is the manager as well - Lisa?.
The real reason to go here is purely for their wings and HOMEMADE chips and salsa. These are two items that are unprecedented and in all the years of searching for good goodies, especially in a bar, they've nailed it head on.
The bar itself tends to be a bit "clique-y". The karaoke guy is not so friendly and seems to play some favortism. So for a newbie in the locale, getting song 1 up was no problem, but not being a "great" singer posed difficulty in getting any other songs up even on a slow night. This was confirmed by a local and regular patron of the bar that stated the karaoke guy has favorites. This creates a bit of a problem in being fair to review the place upon hearing such information.
And so...is the review...wings & chips & salsa 10 thumbs up, karaoke, less than desirable based on favortism. Room for improvement.
Great Home Town Bar – The Tapper is a great local bar, with a lot of regulars. It mainly plays country or rock, but sometimes throws a dance song or two in the mix. You won't find a friendlier group of people. They have Karaoke every Friday and Saturday, and get quite a few people that can actually sing! Besides that the DJ is awesome, and the bartenders even better. It normally gets pretty crowed, and they can be a rowdy group, but for the most part are harmless.
