best salt water fish – Finally a petstore in joliet with a good selection os salt water fish and corals. I've been to bigger stores that have a bigger selection but for the Joliet area this is the best. Healthy live stock including corals and inverts. Good supply of frozen foods but no high end equipment such as skimmers.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Large selection of pets for sale and adoption, including puppies, kittens, birds, reptiles and small mammals. Also pet care products.
PETLAND JOLIET ILLINOIS – I WILL NEVER BUY A DOG FROM THE PETLAND STORE IN JOLIET, ILLINOIS. I BOUGHT AN AKC REGISTERED DOG FROM PETLAND IN JOLIET, ILLINOIS, FOR $1,400.00, NOT INCLUDING THE ADDITIONAL $1,000 I SPEND ON NEEDLES, HEARTWORM, KENNEL, GROOMING TOOLS AND MUCH MORE. WELL, THE DOG WAS NEVER AKC REGISTERED. DID I GET MY MONEY BACK? HECK NO! IN THE FINE PRINT, IT SAYS THE REGISTRATION PAPERS ARE A COURTESY AND THE RETAILER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ERRORS, OMMISIONS OR MISREPRESENTATIONS BY 'OTHERS'. WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE THE INNOCENT BUYER WHO BUYS THE DOG? WELL, IT LEFT THIS BUYER $1,700 POORER. BUYER BEWARE! I WILL NEVER BUY A DOG FROM PETLAND IN JOLIET, ILLINOIS AND IF YOU ARE WISE, YOU WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET. NEVER BUY AN AKC DOG UNLESS YOU HAVE THE AKC REGISTRATION PAPERS IN YOUR HAND AND CALL AKC TO VALIDATE THE ID NUMBERS. THIS WARNING CAME FROM REPUTABLE BREEDERS AND AKC ITSELF.

puppy mill – I had heard bad things about this pet store from various people. That the animals are usually sick and whatnot. However my boyfriend and I had fallen in love with one of the puppies there, he's a pedigree came from a breeder, full championship bloodlines the works. This was about 4 months ago. Ever since we brought him home he's been sick. He is still sick to this day. The 2nd day we had him we noticed his urine was bright red, he had a very bad UTI. He needed meds for that, and he had kennel cough...which we put him on meds for. Not even a week later we found out he had mange. BAD. In the first two month's of owning him we spent well over 2000 dollars on meds, tests, and general care for him. Mind you we dont mind caring for him as he needs it, but it is just ridiculous that we pay 1000.00 for a dog and end up spending another 2000.00 on him in vet care within a couple month's. Not to mention that he has a heriditary mange that will be with him the rest of his life. Like I said we love him and will do anything for him, but there are people who may not be able to provide for a sick animal the way we've been able to. I wonder how many animals end up abandoned, or put to sleep due to the owners not being able to dish out a grand here and a grand there for their animals care. The pet store is wrong for not checking out the breeders who NEVER should have bred dogs with Demodectic mange in the first place and for not informing the buyers that the health of the animal, and breeders background are not a priority. I feel so bad for the animals that are bred not out of love, and bettering of a breed but strickly for money.
