Extremely rude treatment from manager. – The manufacturer of an appliance that we purchased at Menard's in Naperville agreed to give us a full refund for a product that was out of warranty because the product was so poorly designed that it never worked (and couldn't work) properly and it also failed completely. It's a long story but a perfectly clear arrangement was made between us and the manufacturer so that I would receive a full refund when I returned the item to Menard's. The manufacturer called me the day before and told me to see Amber at the Naperville store, who is apparently a manager. The paperwork was all complete and the approval was made for the refund. Amber and another supervisor will filled in on all the details and authorized to give us a full refund.

I loaded the appliance into our SUV and my wife took it to Menard's in Naperville the next day because she would be driving by the store anyway. It's heavy and dangerous because one part is cylindrical an weights over 100 pounds so it could roll around in an emergency stop. My wife found Amber, who then refused to give us the refund as agreed upon by the manufacturer, us, and the store the previous day.

I then called Amber and, as I began explaining the situation, she kept cutting me off and not letting me speak. When I tried to get a word in, she said, "I don't like to be talked to like that and she kept on talking over me, not allowing me to say a word. Then she put me on hold. (I had absolutely nothing against Amber at all! I was not raising my voice but I did get frustrated when she kept talking over me. However, even then I didn't raise my voice. In fact, I purposely talked softly, hoping that Amber would stop claiming that she didn't like the volume or tone of my voice but that didn't good. She still kept talking over me and was unprofessional and rude.

She finally agreed to issue the full refund but made it sound like she was doing us a huge favor when this was an agreement between us and the manufacturer. It was costing Menard's nothing.

After being treated by Amber in that manner, we will no longer shop at Menard's. until now, we had shopped at Menard's almost every week. We were loyal customers. No more! The treatement we received was insulting, aggravating, and totally uncalled for.
