It may not be as exciting as some of the flashy newcomers, but this tapas joint has a homey feel and some consistently tasty bites. The pecan-topped goat cheese is delish.

Good Food Better Atmosphere – Went alone one evening while traveling on business. Asked for a table where I could read my book and was seated immediately at a table that the hostess said had good light. The waiter was also the bartender and came to my table right away. The good service continued throughout the meal. I thought the food was pretty good, but maybe a little pricey.

A Streeterville tapas restaurant keeps the sangria flowing for tourists and locals who don't do chain dining. – In Short
For a restaurant in the heart of touristville, this tapas and wine bar feels very local. Casually dressed tourists and locals enjoy sangria and tapas alongside couples and locals with kids in tow. Gorgeous murals of the Spanish countryside and matadors pep up the space, which is divided into two eating areas and a cozy back bar. A menu of hot and cold tapas embraces spicy flavors like octopus with peppers marinated in a sherry vinaigrette, garlicky pork tenderloin medallions and chicken breast served with chorizo.

good food, so so service – I visited on a Monday night. Trying to decide between two different red wines, my waiter brought tasting glasses to allow me to taste before choosing. Very nice! But the service after that was inconsistent, with my waiter not showing up to check on my needs to order the next plate - luckily other staff pitched in. The plates are wonderful, very well presented. The artichoke, serrano ham and cabrales cheese with mixed greens (Tarta de Alcachofas) was fabuous, drizzled with balsamic vinegar. However my grilled beef tenderloin was a bit charred on the outside, somewhat overwhelming the cracked peppers and sherry sauce. The Delicia de Tres Gustos terrine of white, bitter sweet and caramel mousse was not as flavorful as I would have expected.

Overall, I would go back to explore the menu more.

The BEST Tapas! – This place is SO good! I visit Chicago every year for a week in November, and my friends and I eat there at least twice! The red sangria is delicious and a must-have dish is the baked goat cheese with garlic toast - absolutely to die for!! Do yourself a big favor and get over to Emilio's!

Great Tapas Experience – Lots of interesting dishes to sample. Excellent wine list. I recommend the Veleta Trepenillo wine. Service was okay but the food was excellent. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

Great Tapas in Chicago – Emilio's tapas and wine bar is the best place to people watch and to get a great small meal. The white sangria is very good with a kick and the small appetizers are just enough to share with two or four. Everything was great, make sure (if you don't know spanish) you ask if the tapas is hot or cold; expecting a hot dish and receiving it cold can "sour" the appetite.

Dessert was just enough and not over-bearing. Well worth the wait and money.

Um..off night? – My friend and I shared five of what we thought were the most interesting and inventive-sounding tapas on the menu, and all of them were bland and uninspired. The "gracious, unhurried" service made us impatient, especially considering that we were two of four people in the whole place and still had to wait 20 minutes for the bill.

Customer – First time experienced Spanish food. Paella A La Valenciana was good, needed a little more spice. Tapa Piquillos Rellenos De Pato was excellent. Baked dried fruit tart desert was good. Red sangria was watered down.

top Tapas – outstanding! one of a very few 5 stars I've ever given. Excellent CAZUELA DE PULPO, GAMBAS FRIAS TRES SALSAS, AN CON TOMATE, JAMON Y QUESO, TAPA A LA NAVARRA, CARACOLES EMILIO, duck in sherry sauce, calamri bread. We had over 30 plates. Our waitress served 8 loons without a flinch. Excellent Margaritas and desserts too. As good as tapas in Spain. But if you'd prefer the long wait at Iberico....
