Les Nomades is an lovely upscale french restaurant right downtown. Their escargot is a bit modern with roquefort and a tomato coulis.
Superbly simple French fare in an atmosphere of quiet elegance. – The Scene
Back in the '80s and early '90s, Les Nomades was a private club, and this intimate, two-story Streeterville townhouse still has an exclusive, members-only feel. A small sitting area with wood-burning fireplace adjoins a small dining room, where warm golden walls, mirrors and wrought-iron accents impart a classic, sophisticated feel. The crowd is mature and sophisticated, servers friendly and efficient.
The restaurant's French fare is simple and clean, with a harmony of flavor and texture that is often stunning. A series of masterful terrines show up frequently on the changing menu, as in an exquisitely composed roasted-beet salad with bright-green dill sauce and a rich, creamy terrine of Roquefort and walnut. Entrees are superb, from smoky pan-seared sea bass with chanterelle mushroom sauce and root vegetables to lovely duo of duck, the sweet breast meat perfectly complementing the rich confit. For dessert, souffles are lovely and lighter-than-air.
Perfection In Motion – Three friends from London and my wife & I had one of the most remarkable dining experiences we have ever encountered last Friday (4 June) at Les Nomades. Along with an excellent meal and unpretentious, knowledgeable service we had two beautiful (but very reasonable) bottles of wine (a 1986 Château Lafite Rothschild & a 1966 Saint-Julien). Having eaten there twice before, I would rate Les Nomades heads & shoulders above Everest (Chef Jean Joho) and Charlie Trotter's - no mean feat when you consider the latter two will cost the average diner about double what they will pay at Les Nomades. As a member of The Carlton Club (15 years) and one that has eaten at some of the most exquisite restaurants in the world, this restaurant, indeed, is a Top Five signature oasis.
Elegant dining – Les Nomades is my favorite fine dining restaurant in the city. The food, service and atmosphere are wonderfully elegant yet not pretentious. I highly recommend it as one of the most elegant dining experiences in the city.
Beautiful presentation of food – Everytime I get to go to Les Nomades, its a special day for me. I truly appreciate their elegant dining atmosphere, fine waitstuff and their wonderful food.
I enjoy each of the meal course in this place. It is definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever been.
florist – I go there every time i'm in Chicago and love every minute of it!
Fabulous soup! – When we ate at Les Nomade, we figured we were taking a chance because other restaurants were rated higher and our Chicago visit was brief. We were not disappointed in any way. We were seated quickly in the upstairs dining room with soft music and conversation providing a pleasant background. Service was both congenial and efficient, but unhurried. For a lagniappe, we were given small bowls of pumpkin sioup which was an almost broth-like flavorful concoction that took our breath away. There was not a weak course in the entire meal which we ended with cognac and a creme brulee trio that made us wish we had space for more. We can't wait to get back and go to this fine establishment again.
The Best – Roland and Mary Beth Licconi (I think i got the spelling wrong) are without a doubt the best restaurant operators in the City, perhaps the country. Period. An this restaurant is simply the best of the best. Pay your homage, treat yourself and splurge on the best fine dining value in the city. Roland Licconi is the most talented, most creative chef in the city and is without equal.
