Wow, I too am surprised at the comments listed negatively with CSH. I worked for Don Clarke from 2005-2009. I am an executive that came from up North due to a job relocation/marriage. I showcased many homes although I worked out of town for the most part. I am a 6-figure executive who showcased over $60K in furnishings and decorations. I manicured the homes as if they were my own (i.e. Lawn care, maids, and my own personal cleaning skills) in often 4,000+ sq ft homes. My furnishing often turned the properties that were starting to decay with cobwebs and dust into paradise. I see where some comments stated Don allowed section 8, criminals...drug dealers, etc in the homeowners properties. I find that hard to believe. I have seen some properties left in need of upkeep and a shine here or there, and I am certain every home manager wasn't as meticulous as I am, but overall I truly find these stories to be very disheartening as I was a showcase RM that took pride in my work! I took pride in my showings and ability to really deck those homes out and be able to be on the road and work without fear of someone breaking in or stealing while I was on the road.
As for Don Clarke, he has thick skin, but he's a nice guy and he never made advances at me in my tenure with him. What made me leave the service was a builder foreclosed on the property and we can't show case foreclosed property. I also had problems with excessive utilities. Some homeowners were not honest about the condition of their sitting properties, which I was responsible for their utilities that at times exceeded the monthly expenses of the Show home move-in fee. I agree with many, I don't think Show home RM's should have pets or over 2 children (max). Those homes do not belong to Don, them, or the agents...they're owned by families trying to offer buyers a great approach of what the home could be...I hate to hear a service that worked for me for several years has gone down...but, I am a 6-figure executive who never had anything but great reviews...and great homes. Thanks Homeowners for enabling me the opportunity to relocate to GA and get to know my way around by residing in your homes and making it a creative place to live...a win, win situation for me and all my clients...
Creative Show Homes is a complete rip off. After assuring me that a professional 'home manager' would be placed in my house with beautiful furniture, they placed a section 8 tenant in my house.
The children and dog destroyed two rooms and the carpet. My neighbors told me the police were called to my property on more than one occasion.
After speaking with one of the Creative Show Homes employees, I learned that one of the 'favorable reviews' was written by his daughter.
DO NOT USE Creative Show Homes – Creative Show Homes (CSH) is dishonest, destroys property, and should never be used. The "Resident Manager" (RM) placed in my home never arranged his furniture in a manner to show the home. For the more than 2 months that he was in my home, his furniture was piled in my living and dining rooms.
Also, he never placed utilities in his name. CSH promised to reimburse me for utility bills during the time the RM was in my home. They refused after I sent them the bills.
Finally, I provided specific instructions to CSH not to use a room. These instructions were heard and acknowledged by CSH staff. However, when I saw my home for the first time after the RM piled his belongings in my home, he and his things were throughout the room that was supposed to be off limits.
You will regret using this company.
Review Pull – In discussions with CSH, working towards resolution.
Home Invasion not Staging – Lelou Arsenault is our representative whom we trusted to professional stage our home and place a Resident Manager (RM). They were to only place trained and qualified RMs who would keep our home accessible and show ready. The RM wrote them a fraudulent check so they in turn NEVER staged our home and didn't even inform us of any problems. It wasn't until we got reports that potential buyers had been unable to view the home that we started to question their services and talked to Don Clarke who has not made good on any of his promises or agreements. We currently have this woman whom we can't get out of our home and Creative Showhomes refuses to file a court eviction even though she was in jail over the weekend for unknown reasons and came back and has barricated herself in our home and we no longer have access to it nor do any potential buyers. Due to our contract with them we cannot evict her ourselves. They have asked for us to break our contract with them with their verbal "promise" that they will then take care of everything. We can only hope that this will all end soon and to get our home back in good condition. Do not use this company!!!!
Great company- true to word – I was absolutely shocked to read some of the negative reviews posted about Creative Show Homes. I used this Company after my home stayed on the market for a year ( I lived out of state). I was contacted by my agent saying to check this company's services out- and I am SO glad that I did!
The process is a little nerve racking because I was placing the care of my home in their hands, but everything was straight forward... no nonsense. They placed a resident manager in my home and it looked amazing which surprised me because they had kids. In the 6 months and numerous showings CSH had my home, I think my agent told me that he once had to do a last minute showing and there were dishes in the sink, which did not bother me that much because within 5 minutes the family of 4 that lived in there left for the showing, but my agent worked with Don, the owner, and from then on it looked like a professional cleaner was in there for every showing. I was amazed and thankful to the RM for taking such good care of my home. They even held open houses of their own because of their relationship with relators. When my house finally sold (at about 6 months), CSH stayed true to their word and was out in LESS than 26 days! I was absolutely AMAZED.
Also, during the time this family was in my house we had a minor issue in our basement due to excessive rain, and if they hadn't been in there to help work the issue, call Don who called our agent and me... we would have been in a mess. Within an hour we had the situation under control. Don personally went to check on the house for the next few days and stayed in contact with us.
Here is the best part- which you don't find with most businesses, Don was available to my husband and I, night or day, if we needed him- even more so than our agent was. It did not happen often- but he was there to help. It felt personal... and I am glad it did because it was very personal to my family. I am not sure how long my house would have stayed on the market if I had not worked with the Company... but our agent and CSH worked as a team to move my house. I couldn't have been happier.
I read through some of these reviews and all I can say is that as the homeowner you have to be able to trust your agent and have them be your advocate when you are not in town, and it seems as though some of the agents from CSH clients may have fallen short. If this company would sell realestate it would be a great one stop shop!
CSH was a Godsend! – My husband's firm needed to move our family to Seattle, WA quickly; however, the company was in NO position to assume our mortgage during such relocation. A co-worker, knowing how imperative it was for all of us to stay together, had heard of area companies that staged properties for homeowners like ourselves. We looked and asked around. Despite a few mixed reviews from the BBB and internet, we found Creative Show Homes to be the staging company we wanted to place our trust within.
From the start, they were courteous, overly energetic and positive about who they could put it in our home to care for it. This was extremely important to myself since this was my dream home which I planned to watch our four beautiful girls grow up and Joe and I grow old together in. So, we signed a contract; moved out; moved into a rental home in Seattle while we began to assess the market here; and, moved forward.
Our realtor, a personal friend and neighbor, kept us posted often over the period that CSH staged our home. He himself was amazed at their professionalism and attentiveness to detail. In fact, to my chagrin, he said, the house looked better now than it ever had. I guess this should make a homeowner happy; however, I always thought my yard and design abilities were pretty top-notch. But, whatever...the point is that they cared for our home as if it was theirs. And, considering the uneasiness in leaving our lives in Atlanta behind, this meant all the world to me.
Only on the market for thirty six days, our home sold in record time and for more money than others similiar in our neighborhood and still listed!! Our realtor is a firm believer that while he did everything he could to push the house; the efforts of CSH aided and enhanced his efforts and resulted in a quick, uncomplicated sell.
I wish we could have found a company like theirs here in Seattle. Use this company. They live up to what they promise. You won't be disappointed!
What a terrific service!! – My family recently moved from Alpharetta to Birmingham, Alabama. With the economy the way it is and home prices horribly devalued due to such, we weren't sure what to do about our home in Alpharetta; nevertheless, a new home in Birmingham.
A friend referred us to Creative Show Homes (CSH). The owner, Mr. Clarke was incredibly receptive, understanding and assistful in our situation. His staff was equally professional and "hand-held" us through the entire process.
When our home sold within 20 days (yes...you read this correctly), we couldn't believe that home staging actually worked. CSH held up their bargain of our agreement. Our home was excellently maintained and managed. In fact, it looked better after they moved out than ourselves, our 3.5 kids and dog Scout.
We can't rave enough about their professionalism, courtesy, respect for our former home and the way they conducted this important transaction for our family. If you are a homeowner who is relocating due to the economy; new job; loss of job; whatever, don't hesitate in looking this company up and employing them. You won't be disappointed!!
Horrible Staging Company – This staging company is terrible. They don't honor their contracts or do quality background checks of the people they put in your house. They put a "family" in my house. The father was a chain smoker. The son had a substance abuse problem and the daughter had other problems. The woman was some random lady who he met off the internet who they didn't even do a background check on. After 8 months Creative Showhomes refused to change the filters in my house. When I changed them they stunk of cigarette smoke and I had to seriously air out and clean my house to rid it of the smoke smell. I also had to take my house off the market and rent it in order to get the horrible "family" out of it.
Not recommended due to poor service, follow-up, & their business practices. I don't know of anyone who has had a good experience with this company. Since they're in possession of your house, please be careful, & realize that staging your house for sale is a better option than using this company.
