Never impressed – I've tried Scholars several times and each time I've been disappointed by the food. It is not bad, by any means, but it certainly doesn't meet the expectations of what I'm paying for the dish. Service has always been efficient and friendly and I do enjoy the bar. Great place for a drink, especially on Thursdays.

Poor service and quality – My husbad and I dined with a party or 8. Our waitress never once told us of the night's specials. I had the herbed tilapia (flavorless), while my husband paid $36 for the worst NY Strip (12 oz.) he has ever had. The price for the steak was not listed on the menu. The waitress also cleared my plate before I was finished. Our dinners were terrible, but the appetizers and desserts looked great. We have been there on Thursday 1/2 price martini night, and it was wonderful. Would NOT recommend for dinner if you are expecting to receive the same service and quality as their menu prices suggest.

Great dining in Indy! – My husband and I just returned from F-1 weekend in Indy, and Scholars Inn definitely was one of the high points. Even for a busy weekend, the restaurant was able to seat us very quickly, and the service was great. The food was quite outstanding for being in the Midwest -- we enjoyed the Spread Flight (platter of 4 different spreads), and the Poppy Tofu was quite excellent as a vegetarian dish, albeit a bit sweet. Definitely save room for dessert -- try the Bananas Foster (made at your table!) and the Chocolate Pate. We went 2 nights in a row, and friends we brought w/ us on the 2nd night enjoyed it, too! Not really a great date place b/c it gets very loud downstairs, but the upstairs made for comfortable conversation.

Try this place! – This restaurant is genuinely one of the coolest places in Indy. It's such a welcome change from all of the crazy chain restaurants that seem to predominate in Indy. The food is excellent, the drinks and wine list are equally pleasing, and the service is always great!

Thursday for Drinks – Definitely the place to be for martinis on thursday night, 1/2 price martini night definitely draws a crowd. I have had better martinis, but I definitely haven't had better $4 martinis. The atmosphere is excellent, and it is nice to know that there are actually other single twenty-somethings in this town that look forward to something other than Nascar.

Average food and bad service – This restaurant will always be busy because of its beautiful decor and eclectic atmosphere. However, do not expect the food or service to match. The food is average at best but not priced accordingly. The waiter that served us was unattentive and aloof. In fact, it was the worst service I have ever had. All in all, a bad experience.

Well-received eclectic menu featuring upscale service and casual prices. – The Scene
The historic and recently revamped Massachusetts Avenue arts district is home to this modern two-story gem. The 310-seat dining area is unique and bold with two fully-stocked custom bars, two expansive and well decorated dining areas, plasma TVs hanging from the walls and an outdoor patio that draws heat from a towering 17-foot multi-directional fireplace.

The Food
An eclectic menu featuring intricately flavored twists on American fare has patrons lining up at the doors. Sundays are particularly busy, as the Inn opens for its well-received champagne brunch. Start with the cinnamon roll--garnished in blueberries, raspberries and sprinkled with powdered sugar: It is a sweet work of art. The scrumptious scramble blends eggs with your choice of select meats, fresh cheeses and garden vegetables, and is accompanied by challah toast and sweet potatoes. Mouth-watering multi-layered, baked French toast rises high from your plate and is drenched in sticky maple syrup. Wash down brunch with a glass of bubbly or choose from the over 150 select wines.
