Avoid Copa! – A friend and I had a late dinner near Copa and saw the sign so we tried it. I wish we hadn't. The place has a very strong metrosexual feel, a trend that died several years ago. I don't mind some smoke in a bar, but I've never gagged on it as I did at Copa. The drinks we had were just so-so, and it took 10 minutes to get them as the bartender could not be distracted from gabbing with her friends. I'll take my hard-earned money to a friendlier bar that does not treat its customers as annoyances like Copa does.
believe me, it's a good thing! COPA RoCkS – Totally cool place with hot women and lots of cool stuff in this place: COPA. I liked the retro design , felt like Sinatra was gonna show up! But he would have to listen to cooler tunes played by DJs. I didn't see any bad attitude from anyone there!!
Awful – This place is slightly bigger than a CTA rail car, and almost as enjoyable. If we wanted to hang around people putting on stupid club attitudes we would have skipped Copa and gone straight to Le Passage. If these people are "hipsters" then Chicago's nightlife scene is going downhill in a hurry.
Great Place for underground hip hop – This place is one of the few spots where you actually can still hear old school/underground hip hop. The early part of the night usually starts out with the normal house crap but towards the end of the night they will play more hip-hop. This spot is for you and your buddies to just chill and hang out.
Neighbors and young hipsters jam into this Clybourn Corridor lounge for DJ-spun tunes and cocktails. – In Short
Red and gold vintage wallpaper and a zebra-striped wooden bar create a retro vibe at this neighborhood lounge. Early comers can choose from three booths dwarfed by enormous dome lights or a few tables in the front and back of the bar. DJs spin mostly hip-hop and rock on weekends for an upbeat crowd. Six taps and a full bar provide libations for locals looking for a place to call home.
Dissapointed – I had ragging on places...but the chairs in this place are uncomfortable, its very small, and they have no kitchen. It really felt like it was on the verge of closing...hopefully they will add a few things liven it up. The place was fairly empty after work on a Thursday...it probably picks up later in the night...just think several aspects are missing to make this place work.
THANKS for Copa rescue! – Ok, I was relieived when we walked into Copa and it wasn't full of guys wearing trendy metrosexual crap. There were real men drinking shots! YUMMY! I want to go back and have a good time. Plus my roommate hooked up and she needed it!!! :)
Frankie was here!!!!!! – Hey my Chitown playas, I really liked hanging out here. Copa is like a lounge I imagined the Rat Pack hung out in. I had a babe on my arm and a drink in my hand. THAT'S Life!
Drop the attitudes, COPA! – Everyone from the staff through the patrons had a major attitude. The bartenders would rather chat with their friends than serve drinks to those they didn't know, and when they did it was with a "who are you?" attitude. The patrons were rude and smarmy. No more arrogant meatheads, please.
C O P A! – Why haven't I heard of this place before? We parked by this bar when we shopping one day and peaked in the window. It wasn't open yet (too early in the day). We returned on another night and found this joint was hopping with a cool crowd. It was a fun alternative and the peeps were nice.
