Will always go back! – I, my ex-wife & current wife (not all at the same time!!)have been going here since 1979. True, there are a few visits that were not satisfactory, but the food is excellent!! Just wish they had Coke instead of Pepsi! >smile<
The Burrito plate has always been my favorite & they have never failed to please me with this dish. The pork chunks set it off just right. The Durango plate is another favorite & it's normally delicious. The spiciness of both dishes is just right.
Patrons should remember that sometimes you can order something that just didn't work for you, but that doesn't mean Ramon's is a bad restaurant. Try visiting a couple more times & experiment with other dishes. Something is bound to please.
Sometimes the service would be spotty, but with patience & tact, you can generally get good service everytime. If not, then give them a chance to make it right.
Never Going Back – My girlfriend and I went to Ramons and we had mixed expectations due to online reviews, both good and bad. We asked a couple leaving the restaurant if it was good and they said 'it is the best authentic Mexican food" they've had and told me to order the special. We were ordering our food and debating back and forth in front of the waitress of whether or not to get the full or half order of cheese nachos for my girlfriend; I ordered the Chimichangas. We ordered and waited over an hour and ten minutes for our food to come, watching four or more couples who arrived after us order and leave before we got our food. My girlfriends nachos came five minutes before my food and their 'authentic' idea of nachos was nacho cheese like you find in a baseball park. It was a huge let down, my chimis were bland and cold, and we immediately asked for the bill so we could leave. The bill said the nachos were for the whole order when we specifically ordered half and even at full order, the price on the bill was wrong. I asked and the waitress goes....'Oh...it doesn't come in half orders...I guess I didn't explain that very well'. I asked what the solo was for 4.99 instead of full 6.25 and she said that that was the cheese itself- nacho yellow cheese by it self for 5 bucks! We were apologized to seven times while there for the long wait and we got tired of hearing it. We were wondering if the people in the parking lot had ever had real authentic Mexican food and how they could have thought that their food was good. We'll not be returning.
couldn't tell what it was supposed to be – We have been going to Ramons for years but have made our last trip. We ordered Fajitas tonight and could not identify what we got. They called grilled chicken strips with French Fries stacked on top Fajitas. We have eaten at many Mexican eateries both in the states and Mexico and have never seen anything like this. To add insult to injury they were $15.00. could have gotten the same quality at Mickey D's.
The Best Authentic Food – My family and I have been going to Ramon's for over 20 years I have celebrated many B-days, and anniversary's there and just any time I felt like going and having fun. The atmosphere can't be beat, the singer's will keep you tapping and singing along they are wonderful. The food is outstanding!!!! I generally get the Mexican Plate for the variety. Every thing I have tried is great.
Going Downhill – Those who say they have be going to Ramon's for 15-20 year should realize that it's going downhill. The wait staff is constantly changing. Service is declining. We went to Ramon's last week. We were given a menu but nothing else. After sitting there 30 minutes, we left. The hostess came by twice and asked if we were waited on but no one took our order. To their defense, the restaurant was busy. But we should have not been seated if they had no one to wait on us. I called the next day to express my displeasure with the manager. He was not there at the time but they took my name and number and said he would call. Never did.
perennial favorite – Excellent food, casual atmosphere, fun! Try the Durango plate, tender, well-seasoned pork, fresh tortillas, tasty beans and rice. Also great sopes, taco fritos and special green salsa. My family and I have been coming here weekly for more than 20 years!!
