great ambiance food and entertainment – willie j. laws is the reason we went. this genius musician seems to have infused the place at least on his gig night of thursdays with a vib i do not remember before he showed up. rock, blues,r &b and some really bawdy tunes kept the energy level high during our stay. food was terrific...even the kosher dogs were genius.check out the band on thurs. he is a texas legend.
Horrible Service – We went to The Social after a graduation event, expecting to end the night on a good note. Unfortunately, we encountered terrible service at the bar. After we ordered our beers, the bartender gave me a beer that tasted and smelled sour. I took a sip and asked my boyfriend to confirm that it was bad and of course, it was. I asked the bartender nicely (because I do not usually send back food/drinks, but this was horrible) to exchange the beer and instead he yelled at both of us and said, "What do you want me to do??!?!". He also then followed that up with, "Well, you shouldn't order anything off draft."
It was very odd and extremely inappropriate that a bartender or anyone in a customer service position should treat customers that way, especially when those customers are a part of a much larger group putting money into the establishment.
To say the least, the bartender was rude and the opposite of attentive and the drinks were simply overpriced for a sports bar that is desperately trying to be a club in midtown.
I'm sorry for I'd rather go elsewhere.
nice place, awful service – The lounge is set beautifully however i had one of the worst experiences there. One of the bartenders started us off with drinks and later we decided to get more drinks but this time got an older bartender who tried to charge us double for the same drinks we had bought earlier. i refused to take the drink and explained why but he started yelling and refused to serve us and thats when i asked for the manager who sort of resolved the issue but was also rude himself. To be quite frank, it felt like a race issue. With that said, i'm definately never going back.
Great Place, Great People – The weather was great this past weekend and wanted to go someplace after dinner Saturday night. Our friend Mark suggested The Social since we hadn't been there since it re-opened and decided to go there with our friends. It's amazing how things fall of the radar.
On the way my girfriend decided to check for new reviews since it opened. (Gotta love web on the phone!) She told me about the other review and we almost decided to go to somewhere else. Our friends suggested we try it anyway since we were so close. There wasn't much of a crowd but there were still a good number of people. The new place looks great. The new decor and lighting were a nice change. My girlfriend and her friends loved the interior. The drinks were very reasonably priced for this type of place. For the six of us the total tab came out to about $40. I think each one of us had about two drinks. They had some specials running The staff was friendly and the bartender knew a lot of the customers. More customers came in a little later. We had a good time getting reacquinted with one of our old regular spots. With the weather improving this place is going to be a great hangout. I thought I saw something about food being served. That might be interesting.
All in all we had a good time and we'll be back for sure. We missed The Social!
Over FreakN Priced – The newly renovated place looks good and has potential but the service is still bad and drinks are too expensive... I went there last night ordered 3 beers (2 budlights & 1 DosEquis) and it cost $13. then I ordered 4 shots that cost $40 bucks... I think the bartenders were just making up prices as they go and still take forever to get a drink... I gave it a chance but don't think I will be returning that is fo sho!
Renovated favorite ups the class quotient on Washington Avenue's west-end with luxurious leather seating and a solid food menu. – In Short
Located on the cusp of the Heights in the burgeoning west end, this neighborhood bar and lounge embraces distinct designer touches and a sprawling patio. Leather booths provide xozy spaces for more intimate conversations. While the storied Sunday evening scene is always hopping, a generous daily happy hour until 9pm entices patrons all week long.
