Very "Eh" – Saw an event at Bar Lubitsch awhile back and finally got around to writing a review. Overpriced show featuring cheesy singer/songwriters. I checked out the Acoustic Playhouse website and they "claim" to have launched the careers of several artists, but I have no idea who they're talking about.

Waste of money – I actually went to one of their events at the Libertine, but this was the only Acoustic Playhouse event I could find.

My friend was playing that night and he told me to come down. He warned me it was $10 to get in (which is kind of steep for a weeknight) but he said there were going to be plenty of other people playing so I figured it would be worth it. Boy, was I wrong.

First, it cost another $10 to park. I pay to get in and the drinks are pretty average for a Sunset spot. I think a beer was $5, but I could be wrong. It's been a few weeks.

My friend was ok. He's pretty good and I knew what to expect. However, every other act sounded the EXACT same. There was no variety and a definite lack of talent. Having to shell out $20 (10 for parking + 10 at the door) for this is absolutely ridiculous. Acoustic Playhouse is just another one of those LA "promoters" who are looking to screw whoever they can. It's not about bringing good music to people, it's about making a quick buck.

However, I don't have to worry about being invited to one again. My friend said he won't be playing another one because the people who run it are jerks.

Good Music – At a $6 cover, getting in seems like a good deal, but it's a two drink minimum or buying food to actually have a seat, unless it's at the bar or on one of the viewing-impaired couches.

The music was good, though, overall, except for one group, which was far from unbearable.
