The Caroline - TERRIBLE experience – Do not live here. I realize many of the reviews below rate this building as a wonderful place to live, and it does have its perks, but overall this is an absolutely awful building to live in.
For several months, I loved my experience. The doormen, the people at the front desk and the maintenance staff could not be nicer. The building offers free breakfast (bagels, croissants and muffins) on Sundays, the laundry room is fairly clean and big enough to service the entire building, most subway lines are within walking distance, and best of all, you get a discount on membership to NYHRC and can access the gym without ever walking outside.
The problem is that every appliance breaks. Repeatedly. I have lived here for NINE months now, and in that time my air conditioning has broken 4 times, my roommates air conditioning has broken 5 or 6, the dishwasher has never opened/closed properly, we have to get our pipes in the shower and kitchen sink unclogged at least once a month, they have had to fix the chain and flushing function of the toilet twice and the refrigerator has broken 4 times (the last time forcing us to throw away $300 of food and waiting almost 2 weeks for the problem to be fixed). And the worst part? The building manager has an awful secretary who screens his calls. He refuses to acknowledge questions or concerns, and the building is wholly unresponsive when it comes to fixing these issues. And this is not to be blamed on the maintenance staff, as one person is scheduled to work a 12 hour shift ALONE, servicing more than 400 apartments, all with the same problems that we face on a regular basis.
Unfortunately, the discount gym membership and the free croissant once a week do not make up for the total incompetency of building management, or for the $3,600 monthly rent check we write to live in a one-bedroom converted apartment with a fake wall that doesn't even reach the ceiling. If you want to save money, time and constant frustration, do not live here. The negatives grossly outweigh the positives.
The Caroline NYC Chelsea - Soho GREAT Building – The Caroline Building NYC is one of the best rental properties in the Chelsea area of Manhattan, New York City.
Renting an apartment in Manhattan is cheaper then it has been in a long time due to the economy. Property managers are aware of this and have adjusted prices to match the current demand. The Caroline building is a doorman building so its wont be dirt cheap like a walk up would be.
You can expect prices to be in the range of, mid $2,000’s for studios, low $3,000’s for one-bedrooms and high $4,000’s for two-bedrooms.
This property is professionally managed and requires that you go through a broker to rent. While many renters try to avoid brokers its usually a good idea to find one that you like and that you trust so they may help you find the place that is rite for you.
Pan Am is awful but building is great. – Great building and great location but the management company is terrible. I have worked with 3 different management companies and Pan Am Equities is definitely the most difficult to work with. They try to nickel and dime you with extra service / tax charges so read the lease carefully.
The Caroline Classy - Upscale Building and Apartments – The Caroline on 23rd St and 6th avenue is one of the few Superb buildings in Chelsea Area.
Classy, upscale building with a great location.
The staff is extremely friendly & welcoming.
The Doormen are always smiling & ready to hail you a cab.
Accomodations are amazing. N.Y. Health & Raquetball Club is located in the building, along with valet parking.
Housekeeping, dry cleaning & laundry services are also available.
Beautiful grounds with a courtyard garden & swimming pool.
Walking distance to all the Hot Spots & just minutes from the Hot Meatpacking district.
It is getting extremely pricey for new residents, but if you can fit it into your bubget it is well worth it.
Its a gorgeous building and you are made to feel as though you are living in the Ritz Carlton or The Plaza Hotel.
You feel like royalty and pay alot less than if you were living in those buildings
The Caroline NYC in Chelsea Neighborhood – We rented our apartment in the Caroline NYC with our agent and received excellent rate of just under $3000 per month for the 2 year lease on the 4th floor.
The agent david help me arrange a good moving company and other service real quick and I was in the condo before the week was over.
Thanks a million
