Cheap Prices? Sure – My first visit to Stanley's EVER was last week. The prices were cheaper than Jewel/Dominik's, but I don't think that the quality was the same.
Everything I bought started to over-ripen IMMEDIATELY. The next day, I threw out half the strawberries. The cantaloupe had bruises the same night. The flat leaf parsley lasted a few days. The tomatoes would ripen.
Yeah, I get the low prices, but what's the point if I can't, after properly storing in fridge/counter, use any of the produce because I didn't use it the same day I bought it?
Sure, if you're going to use it that day, go there, the prices are good. But if you're like me and like to have fruits and vegetables on hand for a few day,...it's your call.
Best Produce Around – I've been on a kick to eat healthier but I'm discouraged by high prices and low quality at Jewel. I recently visited Stanleys and walked out with a ton of fruits and veggies for around $30. The place is crazy on the weekends so I would try to go during non-peak hours. Worth fighting the crowds though. I live close and will probably take a walk once a week to load up!
Better Produce Prices than Corporate Grocery Stores – I love it here! Everything is so cheap. All these people complaining about the food going back and being spoiled, well you have to understand that when you pay only fifty cents for a pound of strawberries, of course they are on the verge of going bad. They price items that are getting close to being spoiled at extremely cheap prices. You have to eat them right away or cook with them. Why do you think they're so cheap?! I always get good produce here, yea I have had some days where I can not find any good cucumbers or squash but everything else is great. This is a great place to shop when you cook homemade pasta sauce and other goodies. I get a great price on tomatoes that are too soft for salads but great to cook down into sauce. Last time I went they had sweet corn 10 for a dollar!! How can you beat that? Every time I go I leave with like 3-4 bags stuffed for under $30. Now when I buy my produce at Jewel I'll spend double that on 3 bags of produce. You really can not beat the prices here but remember it's not Whole Foods.
Best CHEAP Fruits and Veggies – I love this place! It's almost a game to go in with $10 and see just how much you can buy. They have great weekly/seasonal specials, so I try to go as often as possible. I highly recommend Stanley's to anyone who likes fresh, cheap produce.
Cheap produce – Whenever I go to Stanley's, I am always pleasantly surprised to walk out having spent a lot less than I planned. That almost never happens! Theur produce is always fresh and they have a lot of variety. Don't go there too long before you plan to eat the food, though, becase it is pretty much ready to eat when you buy it.
