Cheap delicious Mexican. Their carne asada and lingua is quite good.
BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER! – HOLY FRIJOLES, MAN DO I LOVE THIS PLACE!! TECALITLAN IS THE PLACE TO BE WHEN IT COMES TO MEXICAN. GREAT PLACE FOR MARGARITAS AND CHICKEN TAMALES!! THE CHORIZO TACOS ARE KILLER TOO!! MAKES A GREAT STOP BEFORE OR AFTER A BULLS GAME OR A NIGHT OUT IN THE CITY!
Best Margaritas and Enchiladas in Chi-Town!! – I Love, love, love Tecalitlan or Teca as my friends and I like to call it! It is so yummy and it will not break the budget! We go there all the time after work or after a night out on the town since they stay open late on the weekends. It was featured in the August issue of LATINA Magazine for having GOOD & INEXPENSIVE Food!! They are Totally Righ!! They failed to mention the Killer Margaritas made with Tequila 3 Garcias, though!! One Frozen margarita and you'll be hooked!! They are so good and go great with the Hot Pico de Gallo and warm Chips. I love going there for their specials on the Margaritas during the week and for great Tacos de Carne Asada or Carne Asada Enchiladas. Mmmmm they are tasty and you can actually smell the great Carne Asada being grilled inside, from the parking lot as you get out of your car. I can honestly recomend this place to anyone who wants REAL, AUTHENTIC Mexican Food (their Mole sauce tastes just like my grandmas in Mexico, I LOVE IT!!). The mural on the ceiling is so pretty. It goes from night to morning or from morning to night, depening which way you look at it! It is really cool, though! It is a low key, easy going place that is perfect for catching up with friends or going on a first date since it does not give off a totally romantic vibe. Their menus say they have been around for over 30 years and that it has been run by the same "familia" since it opened, so that must mean they are doing something right!! Kuddos and Keep up the Good Work!! See you all soon again my Teca friends!
P.S.They also have th best bartenders Danny and Jose! They already know what I like and don't even wait for me to ask! Now I'm hungry and thristy. I think I will head out to get some good food and drinks at Tecalitlan! Hahaha!!
Best Burritos and Tostadas in Chicago – Tecalitlan has always been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. Mainly come for the basic cheap Mexican food -- e.g. Giant Burritos (especially the Avocodo Burrito - they use like a whole avacodo); and the Steak Tostadas. Any of the steak dishes are wonderful. Also, try the Cebolleta's (large green onions, which they put on the grill). Goes great with the Steak Tostodas.
Many Years Ago ( This was a good place ) – During the early 1980's this was the best kept secret on Chicago Ave.. Then the burrito's were huge now you actually have to buy 2 to equal the massive ones they used to make .. Also the food seems more fast paced and greasy .. I guess after 20+years whos going to notice (well I did )..
The absolutely, positively best Burrito!! – Try a steak burrito and you'll never order anything else! All you can eat tortilla chips and a just right salsa! Have been coming here weekly for years...quit trying to find a better burrito a long time ago...Good service to boot!
Great value! – This food is fantasic. And the drinks are even better. The prices can't be beat. The burritos are huge and the flaming cheese is the best I have had. make sure to check out the mural on the ceiling- only adds to the grat atmosphere. This place is perfect for large groups and I have never had a problem getting a seat.
Casual Mexican favorite serves up a diverse menu of standards in the bustling Ukrainian Village neighborhood. – In Short
This relaxed spot buzzes with takeout customers and regulars from the 'hood, all making the pilgrimage here for the legendary burritos stuffed with chorizo, steak or chicken. Other options include tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, chilis rellenos and flautas. Rice and beans are popular sides; other favorites on the diverse menu include beef tongue, breaded steak and cheese-stuffed peppers.
Authentic – If you really want truly authentic Mexican food, this is the place. This place started out as a take out stand, and has stayed true to providing "real" Mexican food at a value that can't be beat.
The drinks are also the best you'll get anywhere else. There are many imitator's of Mexican food in Chicago, and this one is at the top of my list.
I'm Mexican, so believe me!
Best Suited for a Conservative Outing – It is a well organized, properly staffed restaurant that will give you your money's worth, guaranteed. If you don't feel like overpaying in a Loop location, and want to try real old fashioned Mexican food, give it a try.
Finally Real Mexican Food – I do not even know where to begin, the service is great the waiters are always good. The food is real mexican food. I visit this restaurant every time Im in chicago.
