An eclectic, late-night hangout at the epicenter of WIcker Park. – In Short
Floor-to-ceiling windows and interesting murals are decor highlights; what really makes this bar a gathering place for all walks of life are its central location and hours--early enough for a few on a lazy afternoon, late enough for club kids. Also, the atmosphere's always friendly (despite typical Wicker Park grittiness), and the liquor selection is vast, especially bottled beer options. DJs and a jukebox provide popular songs in a range of musical genres.
...sweet... – I'm sorry, but I love Borderline. I'm there every weekend. The only set back for most people is that it's generally very crowded. Which usually means no sitting room, and it may be hard to get a bartender. If you get there before 1:30am you should find a seat somewhere easily. But to me... the after 1:30 crowd is what makes it interesting. If you like a diverse group of people, this is the place to be. And chances are... you'll see at least one person you know when you go there. It's open late, the staff is friendly, and sunday (reggae) is sweet. The music is great, it's not as crowded, and you will actually have dancing room. I know it's not for everyone... it just depends on what you're looking for. But it truly is the place to mix with people from all walks of life.
