Needed Recess for Achy LEGS!!! ;) – OMG. so I've been visiting LA for about a week now & between shopping & amusement parks & everything else I am SUPER SORE!!!! My friend decided to take me into this Massage Place before my legs gave out. I'm usually weird about people touching me but my therapist was VERY PROFESSIONAL. she focused on my legs but didn't go too deep cuz she didn't want to aggravate it. the price was a shocker, $47??! and it's located right between Venice/Santa Monica so it's perfect if you're on the beach & want a little rub-down ;) DEF going back before I leave town!!!!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL TIME! – I had to cancel an appointment here and after being verbally attacked by the woman at the front desk, she then hung up on me! Even after I had sincerely apologized AND thanked her profusely. Her comments to me were completely rude and unwarranted. I had been a customer for years and although the massages weren't top notch it was always convenient and CHEAP! Never again will I go back.
rude woman at desk – After a wonderful massage from Grace I was treated extremely rudely by a woman at the front desk named Carole. I found out later that she is the mother of the owner, so, good luck getting anything changed. But, hopefully this review will caution those thinking of going here.
I gave my credit card to Carole after the massage. She asked me what my gratuity would be. I said 20%, thinking that was a good amount, $8.00. She immediately "corrected" me telling me I should read the sign saying it was common practice to give $10 - $20 per massage. Her manner was so gruff I was taken aback.
I upped the amount to $10, however, if it she'd presented it in a kind way I would have given more. The massage was great. But, she was curt, condescending, and clearly intended to guilt-trip me . She then proceeded to tell me how they worked really hard and deserved it. I agreed, but, being shocked by the way she was talking to told her I was surprised at the way she was presenting it. It was uncomfortable for a customer who innocently thought they were giving an appropriate amount. She continued with "you know some of the masseuses won't even work on you again unless you leave at least $10, again, in a rude and condescending manner. I told her I was embarrassed by the way she was talking to me, especially in front of others. She said "You are embarrassing because you would leave such a small tip. Wow! Can you imagine? I found out later this is the way she treats people. No matter how great the massage, she ruins it.
So, I highly recommend Grace as a masseuse, but, caution you to patronize "The Massage Place." If they cared about treating their masseuses and masseurs so well, they would pay them better rather than expecting the customer make up for what they don't want to pay. AND, if they cared about repeat business they would treat the customer better, as well.
Disappointing – I went to a "Massage Place" near my house in Venice (Main Street) frequently for a few years because it was close and cheap. One day after a mix-up on the part of the receptionist (she told me my appointment was 15 minutes later than it was) I was informed that I would still be charged in full, and worse, I was subjected to the most vile and dismissive, incredibly rude and un-professional behavior I may have ever experienced at any establishment ever. I actually really mean that. She had no sense of treating an established customer with any degree of fairness because of her error. She did nothing but repeat ad nauseam that they always charge the full amount no matter what happens, apparently even if the mistake was on their end. It was shockingly rude. I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. Sure, you might get a cheap massage, but who cares when you could be treated like this.
If you are looking for a place to relax, go somewhere else.
