It was graduation time from the Tigard CHPT a week ago with Tawnie and sad to see it end. This session was for post surgery on my neck which was done in October with a plate and screws - truly bionic and becoming more so with each surgery. She managed to not only provide me with pain free days but also improved my posture, my attitude and was truly an "angel" in my recovery. I can't say enough about how I was treated by the staff with kindness, understanding, respect and friendship - I shall always be thankful.
I was having severe back pains at my SI joint. They were so bad, I had to sleep sitting up. My orthopedist recommended I go to CH for physical therapy. On my first evaluation, the PT did several tests, got my medical history, and began a series of exercises to realign my posture and strengthen some weakened muscles. After 3 sessions I was able to sleep on my back. Over the course of the next 10 weeks, the back pain went from a 10 (severe) to about a 1. Not only am I able to sleep better, I am now able to hit a large bucket of golf balls with no pain.
It was well worth the visit to CH Physical Therapy. My therapist hit this one out of the park. NO surgery required !
This is my second round of physical therapy following spinal surgery over a year ago and my first time at C.H. Physical Therapy. Loving my time and really seeing progress! Jillian is great. She really emphasizes proper form and constantly monitors my performance making adjustments as needed. Can't emphasize enough how important that feedback is. Don't get me wrong, my first physical therapist was great. He got me stronger and I made progress but I developed bad habits since I was unable to isolate the actual issues that were causing my problems. Jillian advises me on proper form and gives me the "why" I need to do something the proper way to prevent my body from "cheating", allowing my strong muscles to compensate for my weaker ones. Needless to say it's been eye opening and educational. Highly recommended!
Our family started @ CH Physical Therapy over 8 years ago with PT for an injury and just kept coming! After the PT, we adjusted to a regimine of "Personal Training"...then there was the sprained wrist and shoulder surgery....and we're still here working out twice a week with 3 routines. My husband and I now split our time between the Pearl location with Kim and Tigard with Jillian. They both work direct our three routines of resistance training which is rewarding and keeping us strong and fit!
Early last summer I was diagnosed with degenerative back disease and pinched spinal nerves. I experienced intense pain and had difficulty walking. A neurosurgeon prescribed lumbar steroid injections. I received the maximum number that could be administered and things were better, but after awhile my leg began to tingle, burn and weaken.
My neurosurgeon had requested that I return for a visit post injections. I did and physical therapy was recommended. I was referred by my doctor to C.H. Physical Therapy.
During the first session I was throughly evaluated and during the following sessions I began a program of exercises and stretches to strengthen my core and leg muscles and to increase my flexibility. During the sessions I really worked hard which I didn't mind as I was there to get better. I was also directed to do specific exercises and stretches at home and/or the gym.
Now, post therapy, I have less leg problems and am noticeably stronger and more flexible.
Even before my first therapy session I had confidence in C.H. Physical Therapy since my neurosurgeon had referred me to them. The therapist I worked with is highly trained, with a doctorate in physical therapy. She was very professional in manner and communicated well. She answered all my many questions.
I hope that I never again need P.T., but if I do I would gladly return to C.H. Physical Therapy. I would gladly recommend C.H. Physical Therapy to any family member or friend in need of services that they could provide.
I began therapy in October 2013 at the Tigard location (I live in Salem) and continue to be pleased and impressed with the personal attention from everyone associated with this group. The therapies and exercises are appropriate for someone of my age and diagnosis, and Laura as a therapist is exceptionally knowledgeable and detail oriented, keeping me focused on the goals of strength and stability. I believe that we worked together toward a more healthful outcome for me, and this teamwork made a significant difference in the results: the pain levels decreased and I learned new ways to avoid setting myself up for more (pain)! My recommendation could not be more enthusiastic for this exceptional group of personable professionals.
I just finished up my physical therapy and a few personal training sessions and thought I'd give my feedback on the experience.
First off I appreciate that Easter took care of checking with my insurance company regarding my coverage for physical therapy. The last place I went for physical therapy put that responsibility on the patient. Easter was always very friendly during the reminder calls and appointment scheduling.
The facility is nice and always clean. No parking issues.
The google docs setup is perfect. I always have my phone with me and therefore always have my list of exercises/stretches with me. The linked pictures (some are a bit on the small side), videos, and notes at the bottom were really helpful when trying to remember how to do everything.
Adrienne did an exceptional job fixing my knee problem and was always a pleasure to work with. She is clearly very smart and did a great job explaining everything. I always left my appointments reassured. My knee is so much better now and my legs just feel better in general.
I'm so happy to have my knee functional again so that I can get back to things that I enjoy and I can't say enough good things about Adrienne and the facility.
When I visited CH Therapy at Portland clinic I thought I will give myself one last chance before I decide to go for a second surgery on my back. I had done much therapy in the past in different places but I did not get the benefit I am reaping now. My body was in so much pain and could not tie up my shoes.Everything in me hurt. After being there for three month I feel I am able to mange my daily work. I am very thankful to my therapist Laura for her constant encouragement and compassion and intense work. She truly made a difference in my life. My pain situation is more tolerable. She gave me the tools needed to handle mange my daily pain. My thanks also to all the people who works in that office for their friendly attitude and warm welcome.
Working with CH Physical Therapy made such a huge difference in my quality of life. After I was diagnosed with two herniated cervical discs in my neck several months ago, I was living everyday in chronic pain. The doctor wanted me to try physical therapy as the first plan of action. I was a bit skeptical that it would help that much, but I was so wrong. I am the end of my training sessions and I feel so much better and am living virtually pain free. My trainer was Laura and she was such a joy to work with. She was patient with me and very knowledgeable about tailoring a program for my injury that helped me significantly. She gave me the tools to go forward and keep myself strong and pain free in the future.
Nov 28, 2013 - Thanksgiving
There are many things I am thankful for today, many of which are the life changing improvements Colin Hoobler Physical Therapy ( C.H.P.T. ) have made over the last three months since working with and under the professional guidance of Margo Burette.
You website states you specialize in Arthritis ( Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis ):
Before having your joint replaced, try us. Strengthening and stretching muscles around a joint can dramatically decrease pain and improve function, but it must be done right.
I couldn’t agree more.
I first came to C.H.P.T. and met Margo for an evaluation on August 13, 2013, thinking there was not much that could be done after over 30 years of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Peripheral Neuropathy, and the resulting bone spurs, degenerative cervical spine disease and pain. I felt like there was a heavy, painful metal cage locking me in its grip around my shoulders, collar bones and neck, along with many other long time joint problems elsewhere. I had given up doing even simple stretches years ago due to pain and muscle spasms.
It was the first time I have ever had Physical Therapy ( P.T. ), despite Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis around puberty then adult Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 30. I did not know what to expect and was very hesitant initially to even call, but my Rheumatologist had recommended building up muscles in my upper torso with a “personal trainer” of sorts.
From the first moment of the first appointment, Margo was incredibly kind, patiently ( over the last three months ) answered myriads of questions, never gave up hope when it took weeks of core strengthening, myofascial massage and stretching before even eventually being able to use light weights.
Margo took measurements in August, September and November. She did not need to tell me there was a good deal of improvement in range of motion when I saw her on November 25, 2013. I could feel my range of motion, slowly, over the weeks, increasing.
I can now walk briskly for 30 minutes on the treadmill as well as utilize several of the weight machines and free weights. I’ve changed my diet, adding more protein and eating much healthier foods. I feel younger, lighter, stronger. I have less pain throughout the day.
I don’t know what the future will bring me in regards to any possible surgery, however, whatever the case may be, I am much better prepared for any eventuality.
Colin, thank you for the research behind what you do, and for offering your patients “Physical Therapists who get it” like Margo.
