Horrible~ – I bought my wedding dress here against my better judgment. I told the girl I think we should order a size 2 but she insisted on a 4. She told me my measurements were closer to a 4, but none of my clothes are even close to that size. She happened to be a friend so I ended up trusting her (even though there was so much extra fabric). I went to my fitting ( NOT AT DAVIDS) and the lady asked me why I got a 4 instead of a 2. The 2 would of fit me perfectly but instead I am spending an extra $110 to get it taken in.
I had booked my appt. with her as well for my bridesmaid dresses. I had an idea of what I wanted so it was going to be a quick visit. When we were all there I asked if I could try my wedding dress on for the girls, since they had not seen it. She told me NO since I made an appt. for bridesmaid not myself. I dont really know what the difference is if I had my girls try on dresses or me. I made an appt. and therefore I have a time slot and a sales girl. This gilr lost sales on 8 bridesmaid dresses and 2 flower girl dresses.
So needless to say Davids did not provide the type of experience you think of when going to buy your dress or bridesmaid dresses. I knew Davids was not a great place to go but I figured since my friend worked there she would of given me a little better service.
I strongly recommend going elsewhere unless you dont mind the rude untruthful service.
Bridal NIGHTMARE! – This year, it is my best friend’s turn to walk down the aisle and as she is shopping on a budget, we decided to try David’s Bridal – BIG MISTAKE. Teresa (the saleswoman) seemed outright mad when I and the other bridesmaids voiced our opinion or made our own dress selections in an attempt to find more garments that were the bride’s taste. Teresa demanded, “Where did these dresses come from? I didn’t select these!” And chastised us for selecting dresses that she didn’t approve of first. First problem.
She proceeds to tell my friend (as she is trying on only her second dress) that “You need to decide a style now or we are just wasting our time because we will be here all night. You need to tell me “yes” or “no” so that I can put this back on the rack.” Are you serious?!!! To avoid further confrontation, my friend made some quick dress decisions that she wasn’t even sure about just to get Teresa to stop hounding her. Second Problem.
My friend like many brides is shopping on a budget and is immediately upfront with Teresa about this. And I quote. My friend: “I’m working with a budget of about $500 for my dress, I really would like to stay under this.” Teresa (Sales bitch from hell): “Well that sort of thing doesn’t really matter, it’s all about the dress as you know and it doesn’t matter how much it costs.” This money hungry sales lady is obviously working off of commission and continues to push the most expensive dresses on her. Third Problem.
Teresa proceeds to have my friend try on a David’s Bridal “designer” dress that is outside of her budget by some guy who isn’t even alive and designing anymore but David’s Bridal is releasing dresses under his name. Teresa goes on to say that he designed for Jackie Kennedy, do you girls even know who that is?! Like we are infants. Fourth Problem.
I simply can’t hold my tongue anymore. My friend is up there on her dressing stage trying to fake that she is having fun while she is really just getting more and more depressed. This is supposed to be light and fun and a very positive experience! I finally had to step in and tell the lady that from then on out, she would not be telling the bride that she has to make another single decision and that she (Teresa) was not allowed in her (the bride) fitting room because I would be taking over her duties for her.
I am posting this because my friend is too nice and as a warning to other new brides - because no one should have to be treated like that, especially not when they are preparing for the biggest day of their life.
They forced me to select at least one star to post this - I would have given a negative if possible.
treated terrible – I haven't been treated so poorly at a place of business as I was at this David's bridal. employees are rude and lie about wait time. treat customers like idiots. Stay away from this store, don't waste your precious hours while they decide if they can let you buy a wedding dress from them.
dont shop here – I am getting married in July and we were looking for the mother of the bride and groom dresses, we had found the dresses that we wanted, put them on my reff. Card they make for you. I had called last week to make sure the dresses were still there the lady on the phone told me that the dresses were no longer there. heart broken we went back this last weekend to look for new dresses, when I saw some other lady trying on the dress that my mom wanted ...yes the dress that was not in the store...I found both of the dresses that my mothers' wanted they had been put on the discontinued pile. One problem the lady that had on the dress that my mother wanted was going to buy that dress and we were SOL. I confronted the lady who told me that the dresses were no longer there she refused to believe that the conversation ever took place. Bottom line I was lied to if I had know that the dresses were there last week, I would of bought them right there and then.
I will say that on of the girls there was a god sent she looked at all of the stores and found my mom's dress I don’t feel that we should of had to pay for shipping plus the alterations that was BS but my mom got her dress.
I don’t recommend EVER working with davids bridal. it a pain to have this much trouble when you got other big things going on. Good luck
Hands down best bridal store – I'm getting married in june and came in to davids to look for a dress. Im from out of town and didnt know I had to schedule an appointment to try dresses on. I went in on a saturday and they were really busy I had to wait a while before i got to try on. I got to work with Dena there and she was wonderful. She listened to what I wanted and had me try on different styles made sure not to bring me anything out of my budget which i really appreciated. I didnt feel like she was just trying to sell me the most expensive thing in the store. after trying on what seemed like fifty dresses, i was getting frustrated because i didnt feel like any of them was "the one" my consultant then brought me a dress of her choice. she warned me that it was a little over my budget. looking at the dress on the hanger i didnt really like it so i thought it wouldnt hurt. when i put the dress on and walked out, i saw my mom and grandma start crying. as soon as i saw myself in it, i knew it was the one! i felt so beautiful! everyone around me complimented on how gorgeous my dress was and i felt that way too. I didnt even mind spending more than I planned! the alterations lady came and fitted me right away so i didnt have to make an extra trip. they trully are good at what they do. my experience was so stress-free, i recommend everyone to go there if they want a great dress shopping experience
The salespeople are terrible. – I would think my experience is isolated but I have been to the store twice and both times my experience has been bad. 1st time the lady helping me went through the store screaming my name to find me and then kept disappearing. The second time I went back to purchase a bridesmaid gown. My salesgirl went off to try on her own dresses and another one kept telling me how awful I looked in the color I had tried on. Nice. Really makes a person want to return for more abuse
Wedding dress hunting ground for real-world brides on a budget. Princesses need not apply. – In Short
A chic, sleek boutique, it's not. But those willing to look carefully will likely find a big-time bargain. The staff is helpful and knows the merchandise but doesn't provide extensive one-on-one attention or advice. Stores (particularly on weekends) can be swamped with brides-to-be. David's specializes in beaded satin A-lines and simple lace sheaths that just hit the $500 mark. Most labels are tasteful but of medium-quality: Gloria Vanderbilt, Lady Eleanor, Oleg Cassini and the likes.
