Excellent cocktails – My wife, step-daughter and I live in Scotland and we were on holiday last week in New York. We visited this bar on a Saturday night around 7.00pm. Many of the tables were reserved but the friendly waitress found a table for us within five minutes of arriving. I was impressed with this service given that we were tourists. Her friendliness and help continued throughout the evening. During our three hour stay we only had to sit for a couple of minutes with empty glasses.
They take their cocktails very seriously here and have an imaginative list. The cocktails had a high level of alcohol content, compared with Scotland?s standard, and were very enjoyable.
There was a lively buzz within the art deco bar and the crowd were the friendliest that we encountered during our holiday. At one point during the evening the waitress asked us if we could move table so that a larger party could be accommodated in the seating area. This was no problem for us. However the larger party insisted on buying us a round of cocktails as compensation. We tried to decline this generous gesture but the waitress ensured that the round was excluded from our bill! The group also gave us recommendations on other restaurants and bars that we might enjoy during our visit.
This turned out to be our most enjoyable drinking experience in the city.
Great place for a party – I recently threw a party at the Flatiron Lounge and could not believe how nice everyone was (seriously, am I still in Manhattan?). They arranged every last detail for me, all I had to do was show up and have a great time, and I did. The drinks were awesome, everyone tried something new and the waitresses and manager took such great care of my guests. The entire night was a huge success.
All Hype.. and not much else – The space is ok, not bad but not comfortable nor original. The crowds, even on weekdays, are enormously stifling..and the drinks..for $12 a pop they should be wonderful, but they are just decent. Nothing about the experience redeemed itself. I'd recommend going to Sugarcane lounge, just a few minutes walk from Flatiron.
Great Drinks, Coolest Doorman in NYC – Go early in the week to enjoy the cocktails and get a good table. It gets packed on the weekends, but the drinks are still great. Be careful on Saturday Night -- the B & T crowd are in the neighborhood.
DRINKS, DRINKS and DRINKS – I came to Flatiron on a recommendation from the staff at Gramercy Tavern. They were right. The drinks were amazing. My friends and I had a great time and Amy was terrific! She had great suggestions for all of us who were still living inthe age of the cosmopolitan. I'm happy to say I am no longer a novice!
What The Heck Is The Last Reviewer Talking About? – I have been to Flatiron Lounge about 9 or 10 times (and my friends even more) and the drinks & the service at cannot be beat! The staff is always top notch! I knocked over someone else's drink and told the waitress I wanted to buy a new one for the woman. The waitress served the new drink and told me "no charge". The prior reviewer clearly is wrong (look at all the other reviews).
Be warned – Service was terrible. Waitresses had bad attitudes. Hostess yelled at us many times for just "being in the way". told my friends to meet there for my birthday, and when they all arrived, they were given an attitude --especially by the waitresses who couldn't be bothered with our presence. Nice place, but be warned. You will get pushed around and treated like second class citizens. Service at the bar was average. didn't treat their customers right at all. Cool scene, but you can find much better treatment in NYC.
Top Notch - One of the Best – I have been here a handful of times. The drinks are great and the service is always with a smile. This is a wonderful place to go on a date or with a few friends. The music is good and the ambiance is even better.
Great Conversation Place – Music isn't too loud, bartenders know what they're doing (try the Beijing Peach, the Bay Breeze is also phenomenal), and atmosphere is relaxed. It's a great change of pace for anybody looking to get away from the club scene and try a few new mixes... their 'Flight to Paris' cocktail combination is amazing. But if you're looking for a place to party, Flatiron is close enough to Avalon, etc. for you to continue the night.
FANTASTIC!! – The cocktails at the Flatiron Lounge are the best I've ever had!! I loved the flight to Mexico, three perfectly balanced tequilla cocktails. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to educate anyone who is willing to try something new. Let them choose a cocktail for you, you won't be sorry.
