THIS IS HEART BREAKING – I was out of town since the middle of September & was surprised and heartbroken to find my favorite place closed!!!!! I am aware of the flooding situation (I was there for several of them) and I find it appalling that the Co-Op Board & Managing agent refused to do anything about the conditions of buildings or sewer system & fix the problems. The owner spend a lot of money to fix up the cafe and made a dreadful corner have class and great food and coffee. I was informed that the place closed on October 27th this was confirmed by at least a dozen people and other businesses? in the vicinity so the last comment on the November 7th is pathetic and pure evil and nothing but lies. I hope that Munch reopens at another location soon. We lost a perfect place with a perfect Owner and Staff. It will be impossible to find such a great place anywhere else
Overhyped – Maybe I just had a bad experience but I don't think I would visit Munch again. I ordered a panini and after waiting 20 minutes (there was no crowd whatsoever), I got some sort of wrap. The waiter acknowledged the mistake and I had to wait another 20 minutes for the panini. I couldn't even bite into the sandwich because the bread was so hard. The waiter tells me panini bread is supposed to be hard. I told him I know what a panini is and that the bread is supposed to be crusty and toasted by being pressed. I then had to show the waiter that I couldn't even tear the bread apart with two hands much less bite into it. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but I didn't think a simple panini was that difficult to make. Sidenote: When I went to the restroom in the back, they had collected a mound of dirty linen on the floor in the dining area.
Best all around cafe. Great food, affordable prices. – I moved into the area recently and there really isn't many places to eat that are not only delicious but also affordable. Munch Cafe covers both. The prices are perfect for this tight economy and the food tastes FANTASTIC. I know that their signature is the coffee, and don't get me wrong it is the best, but the food is also outstanding and worth trying.
I found Heaven In Forest Hills – Well I have to tell you that Munch Cafe feels like I died and went to heaven. The coffee & teas, besides having a large selection are fantastic. The staff are all wonderful. The food is great & inexpensive. Everything is cooked from scratch so it does take alittle longer but most definitly worth the wait. I seem to have found my new home. Kudos to Munch!!!!
Perfect place to relax and unwind. – This place is very comfortable and a great place to relax. Excellent coffee and teas. The food especially the burgers are great.
Simply the Best – I have been going to Munch Cafe & Grill for the last three years, & I have nothing bad to say about them. The food is always delicious, especially the burgers. The coffee is always fresh. & the staff, no matter how busy, are always quick and friendly. They are simply the best restaurant in Forest Hills.

I Am Sorry For Your Bad Experience – Dear dakif,
Being the owner of Munch Cafe and Grill, I was very upset to read your review. I have no excuse or explanation for the poor service or the food being served to you so terribly. I respect your feed back and take it to heart when a customer is not satisfied. I hope that you will please reconsider coming back to the cafe so I can make it right. I feel that if given the chance you might enjoy it as your friends did in the past. Once again I want to apologize for the bad experience that you had at my cafe. I hope you and your family have a very happy holiday. I feel that the staff as well as myself will learn from this mistake and it will be corrected to prevent this in the future.
Sunday Brunch? No Thank You. – After reading all the great reviews this place had and on the recommendation of a friend, I had brunch there this past Sunday. Yes, this was the Sunday before Christmas but the first thing I noticed was the extremely young staff working there, there was a pair of 20 yr olds in the kitchen cooking. The place only had a few guest so the four of us sat down and got coffee/tea and placed our orders. I was a bit alarmed when the waitress did not seem to know the menu. After waiting what seemed to be an eternity (someone mentioned that there was a notice "Please be patient, all the food is prepared from scratch") we got our food. Four orders and not a single one looked good, it was edible but we could have made this at home, minus all the grease. I had the steak and eggs, the steak was loaded with grease, the kind you get when they neglect to clean the grill top. Another person had eggs with an order of bacon, it came out deep fried and burn black. Waitress acknowledged it did look burnt and inedible, so they quickly deep fried another one for us. Funny how she didnt notice this when she dropped it off 10 seconds earlier. For those that received their toast (either mine did not come with it or she neglected to write it down) it included a heaping tablespoon of butter to go with it. Each order came with French Fries, which tasted freezer burnt to me. I would have preferred home fries but I guess the kids in the back assumed everyone would rather have french fries. When we checked with our friend that recommended the place, they mentioned the owner cooked the food the first time they went there but the second time they went it wasnt as good. Will I ever go back? Never.
Worlds Greatest Place – My wife and I ate at Munch Cafe based on the recommendation of a friend. The owner was cooking. The food was fabulous. They serve the juiciest and tastefulnesses Angus burgers that I ever had. The dessert was great and the coffee was hot and delicious on such a cold day. The best part was the price. It was a lot less then I expected for such fantastic food and service.
