Our event at Dellwood Plantation was fantastic. The staff made a stressful year of wedding planning go very smoothly. The ease of having them provide the catering, bar, event space, tables, linens, etc. was a burden we didn't have to face. It allowed us to spend our time on other elements of our event. My daughter and I visited about a dozen Plantation sites in Virginia and found this jewel in our backyard. The cost was very competitive with other venues in the area. The grounds are beautiful, a perfect site for a fall wedding was our immediate thought.

One thing my daughter was looking for was the use of the house for the rehearsal dinner and somewhere her bridal party could all be together under one roof the night before the wedding. Dellwood offers rooms for rent to the bridal party and guests if you choose. A wonderful homemade breakfast awaited us the morning of this beautiful wedding day.

I brought a lot of my personal touches onto the site. The staff worked well with me to make our vision come to light without any complaints of the additional work I put upon them. I had the venue do our flowers for the attendants and site. They were beautiful; exactly what we asked for. We didn't get to taste the food or cake; so I was a little nervous about everything being what we paid for. There was no need to be nervous at all. The cake was exactly as the sample we gave them to work with and tasted fantastic. We had honey bourbon beef flank steak and their specialty; Chicken Dellwood, along with sautéed mixed vegetables, mashed potato bar with toppings, pasta salad and cesar salad. Everything was wonderful. Each guest had a choice of one entrée and seconds were offered.

The ceremony site was beautiful. The site of my daughter walking down the long, winding sidewalk to her groom was breath taking. We opted for the horse and carriage to carry the bride and groom away....well worth the money.

It's been a week since our event. I have gotten numerous positive comments about the attention to detail, food, venue, and hospitality. I have been told “This was one of the most beautiful weddings we've been to in a long time".

Thank you Patricia and Jamie for helping to make my daughter's "Fairy Tale" wedding come true.

Worst place I've been to in years, rude staff and awful food. Skimpy portions and cold by the time you get through to the buffet line. One bathroom 200 feet away, are they kidding? Don't let the pretty grounds fool you, that's all they're selling.

Great for any function especially bridal – I had my bridal luncheon here today and it was more than amazing; better than I ever could have imagined. Pat and her staff were so helpful and so enthusiastic, you would have thought it was her own family! The grounds are and horses and the beautiful plantation home itself.

I highly recommend using Dellwood Plantation for bridal luncheons, bridal showers, weddings, receptions and any other excuse to spend time here! It is such a great value for the money and it's a really neat experience that not too many people get to enjoy. Spoil yourself with this location and make your wedding memories something you'll never forget!

Wonderful Pastoral Setting Reminiscent of the Old South – Mother of the Bride perspective with Dellwood Plantation: Excellence and Unstressed!

Having grown up on a large land-grant farm myself, I would often notice grand old farmsteads and lament their deterioration. I thought how noble it would be for someone to restore it to its former glory.

While searching for a site, to our good fortune, we found Dellwood--and to my delight & surprise, it was the same grand old farmstead I had admired over the years. Someone had indeed, loved and restored it to its stateliness.

It was perfect! Everything could be done locally, and all in one location : rehearsal, lodging, meals, entertainment and in a wonderful pastoral setting reminiscent of the old South .

Having not formally met the Groom’s family, we wanted something that would give a good first impression of Chesterfield County where the bride grew up. The groom’s father and mother, a physician and a sociologist from a distance state, were bringing many of their colleagues for the first time into this area. They were received with gracious hospitality, in a lovely setting, with a wonderful example of genteel Southern living and chose Dellwood to host the rehearsal dinner.

After the Bride and I interviewed with the Mistress of Dellwood, we understood that Dellwood is more than a business; it is a home where all are expected to conduct themselves in the gracious manner of guests. This assured us of a day filled with happy memories with no unseemly regrets. This is an experience that I highly recommend to any bride and her family. Patricia and the Staff took care of everything, and both families could actually enjoy the occasion without a worry!

As a Mother of the Bride, both professionally & personally, I can recommend Dellwood Plantation as an exemplary home and business whose positive influence has reached far beyond this county & state. Dellwood Plantation is a wholesome and welcoming ambassador not only for Chesterfield County but for Southern hospitality as well.

Romantic Wedding (Wonderful location, Wonderful people) – My daughter wanted an outdoor wedding and wanted to make sure her dogs were able to be included. We knew when we saw the beautiful victorian home and the beautiful garden setting, that this was on the top of their list. What sold us was Pat, the owner of Dellwood. She was so very knowledgable, had great ideas from past weddings, and was passionate about making the day special. We were never let down. Instead, I was always amazed at Pat's follow-up, attention to detail, caring approach, and incredible staff. This was so easy. It was like a one stop shop for your wedding planning. She planned everything and even made wonderful recommendations for the DJ, the Pastor, the string quartet, the florist, and the videographer. All of them were first class. I have to admit I was a little nervous about not hiring a florist and I was amazed at the job Pat's daughter-in-law and the staff did on the flowers (they were gorgeous and so much more reasonable than a florist.). We gave Pat the wedding colors and asked for recommendations on the flowers, the table settings, programs, and many other details. She knew immediatlely what would be beautiful and the flowers were better than we could have imagined. The day could not have been more beautiful thanks to the countless hours and energy that she and her staff put into the event. They were always willing to accomodate any request (and trust me we had many requests) and had some incredible ideas along the way. The long beautiful walkway that the bride and bridesmaids walked down was incredible. The waterfountain, the flowers and the grounds were manicured, colorful and beautiful. The food was excellent and the horse drawn carriage added to the romantic wedding my daughter had dreamed about. We wanted to invite children, so we set up an area with badminton, checkers, and croquet which was enjoyed by the children and surprisingly by the adults too. The dogs were in the wedding and strolled down the walkway in a victorian carriage (Pat offered to us to utilize a victorian carriage that she had). Everyone had so much fun and the night ended with my daughter and new husband leaving on the pathway under hand held sparklers. Looking back at the wedding photos, you see the beautiful smile of the Pastor, the attendees having fun, and the wedding party enjoying every minute. I would highly recommend Dellwood Plantation.

most amazing dream wedding – i had my wedding at dellwood may 29, 2004 and it was absolutely the best day of my life (besides the birth of my son). Pat (the hostess and leader of all) was so catering to myself, my mother and my bridal party that i don't think i could have asked for anything more. my husband and i had looked at several outdoor wedding sites and dellwood was the best priced of all of them- in fact when we went and toured the faciltiy, my husband and i called her from the driveway and told her we had decided to book it. the day was perfect and things could have not gone more smoothly. it helped tremendously that your wedding is the only wedding for the whole weekend that Pat takes on so you get her and her staff's undivided attention. i didn't know unitl after the wedding that the florist had forgotten our topper for our cake and Pat took it upon herself to make one from her own flowers and didn't even tell me b/c she knew that it would be upsetting to me. for anyone looking to have a wedding outside or inside, i cannot recommend dellwood enough. Pat and her staff truly made that day spectacular and to this day 5 years later, my friends and family still talk about what an amazing day it was. Brides, check out the prices, check out all that you get for your weekend and you will see that it does not even begin to compare to some of the other facilities.

Wonderful Wedding – My daughter and I had been looking for a place to have her wedding we had been to numerous places and something just wasn't right. We were driving and I opened the wedding book and on the page I was looking at was Dellwood Plantation. I called hoping we would be able to see the property, Pat answered the phone and said sure we could come out around two. The moment we drove onto the property we had the feeling that this would be the right wedding site. We meet with Pat and took a tour of the property. It was just wonderful, she was so helpful to us and Pat even told us the best time in May to have the wedding when all the flowers would be in bloom. It was the most wonderful experience. It helped me out so much I had just gotton sick and not sure what was going to happen with my health, I knew I could count on Pat to help my daughter with all the plans if I couldn't. It made all the differience in the world to have someone like Pat. On her wedding day everything was perfect. They told us just what to do, helped my daughter and her bridesmaids, the groom and the grooms men. They had everything my daughter had asked for and then some. The food was so good and all the staff was just wonderful to work with. Ever girl wants a fairytale wedding and that is just what my daughter had thanks to Pat and her staff at Dellwood. We can not thank them enough for all that they did for our daughter.

Worst head hostess for a wedding – On July 22 2006, I requested an additional 20 chairs for my daughter's wedding guests to be seated. The head hostess, Pat, told me I would have to pay for them, which I agreed to. In fact my ushers set up the additional chairs. Just as my daughter, Breena Loving, was getting ready to walk down the aisle, Pat came up to her, told her that she (Pat) was calling the wedding off. Pat said that we had requested too many changes, and she wanted everybody off of her property. If we did not leave immediately, we were trespassing, and she was going to call the police. As the mother of the bride, I am appalled and disgusted how anybody in her line of business could behave so unprofessionally. For Pat to threaten the bride with canceling of the contract (contract was of $850.00 for just the ceremony), much less threaten to call the police, when all the guests were seated and the bridal party was ready to walk down the alter - just because we requested 20 more chairs - is not only despicable, but cruel. I do not recommend Dellwood or their services to anyone. If you want professional, and gracious hostessing at your next important event, don't employ the services of Dellwood. If it were not for the elegant reception at the Old Town Catering Company that followed the ceremony, Pat would have completely ruined my daughter's wedding day.
