Stay Away -- You've Been Warned – The February 6, 2011 Scoutmob deal was 50% off at Gut Buster's Cheesesteaks -- the deal was to be available through May 6th. Today, April 16th, I drove twenty minutes over there to use the coupon. The counter girl refused to honor the Scoutmob, saying the owner was no longer accepting them. So the first point is they refuse to honor their obligations.

But secondly, and maybe more importantly, the place is a real dive. In parking your car you have to carefully thread your way between the potholes, the vagrants, and the (what look to be) gangbangers. And this was 3:00 in the afternoon...

I've had very good luck with Scoutmob deals up to this point, but if this is any indication it looks like they don't do much in the way of screening their deals.

The West End’s sneaky-good cheesesteak joint – In Short
There’s just something right about getting a cheesesteak at a greasy Downtown spoon. Not that we don’t love yuppie-friendly joints like Woody’s or Roys’, but Gut Busters, located in the heart of the West End has almost-inner city Chicago vibe to it. Freight and passenger trains wiz by while the nearby shops bustle with urban scenesters and Morehouse students. While you can get other things on the menu (breakfast sandwiches, burgers) the cheesesteaks are the reason to drop in. Cheese oozes its way through a massive pile of beef on a super-soft hoagie urging you to finish the sub in a matter of chomps. No, it’s not an Amoroso roll, a fact you’ll immediately overlook upon first bite. Fries are seasoned, salted and super-crispy and Cokes are served fountain style. The best restaurants do the simple things right and have local flavor. Gut Busters has an abundance of both.

Above Average for an Atlanta Cheesesteak – I'm from Philly and I've have the worst experiences in Atlanta with "Philly Cheesesteaks" but Gutbusters isn't bad at all. They have soft bread, not stingy with meat, and correct size (12inch or larger). They might ask if you want lettuce, tomato, which I find odd, and the steaks get soggy REAL fast but you can fix that by sticking it in the oven for a few minutes. Other than that they might just be the best in Atlanta.

Yummy! – My roommate used to say there's no such thing as a Philly cheesesteak outside of Philly, but even SHE loved the cheesesteaks from this place. They also have the best french fries with salt, pepper and ketchup. Fattening, but the best Saturday morning/study and be lazy food we've ever gorged on.
